Dog barking

I have a six month old dog, we live in a built up area but are lucky enough to have a relatively big garden, we have houses surrounding us. I am so conscious of our dog barking and the worry is consuming my mind. I absolutely dread her barking. She seems to probably bark for five minutes total on and off during the day, not all in one go as we bring her in and stop her but I just feel eaten up with guilt. The neighbours are too polite to say anything, they are very nice people, but that kind of makes it worse! I’m hoping my puppy is just going through the teenage phase but i am finding it very stressful. Would a dog barking for five minutes during the day (not all in one go) bother you? It is never earlier than 7.30-8am and never ever later than 9pm.

I have two dogs and I'm lucky that they hardly ever bark. A nearby neighbour has several yappy dogs that bark in short bursts, perhaps up to a max of two minutes at a time, throughout the day and a late as midnight. It's really fucking annoying, the sound travels later, it goes on an on, and I can never hear them call the dogs in or do anything to stop it.

If you're calling them in, or clapping etc to deter them then I wouldn't be annoyed about that, plus it's not as late as our awful yappers.
But I would be embarrassed too. If ours do occasionally bark we call them in. If they don't come pretty sharpish we go out and get them in.

Have you researched ways to encourage them not to bark?

5 minutes over the course of a day is nothing. Don't worry.

It wouldn't bother me in the slightest.

Thanks @DontBuyANewMumCashmere . I can understand it would be annoying. We have been doing dog training with her, the man comes to our house, we have finished the course but part of the service is online help after so I’m going to send him an email. I think she is just after attention though!

We have a neighbour who has 8 dogs and the barking is constant. I would love you to be my neighbour!
