I'm going to a wedding next week in a church which is going to be extremely formal and need to know if it's very frowned upon if I don't wear a hat?

I'm going to feel so uncomfortable and like an idiot in one but I don't want to offend people and be the only one not wearing one.

I've tried to find a very discreet minimal one but haven't found anything yet. Please somebody help me!

You'll be fine not wearing one unless it's a royal wedding Grin

I’ve never worn a hat - I sometimes wear a fascinator though

@OhSmellyCatSmellyCat that's the problem! It's not a royal wedding!!! But it's at St Paul's cathedral! Does that change anything?

@Ricekrispie22 I've also looked at those but they're all quite elaborate still, I don't want anything sticking up from my head!

It’s fine not to wear a hat. Even at St Paul’s.

You will be fine without one but you do get less elaborate fascinators that are just like alice bands but a bit fancier, or hair clips with a flower or feather etc?

Amboseli · 27/08/2021 15:46

@Usual2usual thanks. I'll see if I can find one.

Claires Accessories do fascinator hair clips (quite subtle) or etsy and ebay have some nice ones.

@Usual2usual thank you!
