Best hoover you've ever owned?

Argh, this is my 2nd shark in 18 months! Absolutely rubbish. A breathless, weak individual with no suction power After 5 mins use

I hate them. Please would you tell me the best hoover you've ever bought?

@WeAllHaveWings wow really? It's mad, I've had Dysons, Hoovers, all sorts and this one is by far the best one I've used! We clean the filters regularly which I find a pretty straight forward job to do in all honesty. I'm astounded by how much dirt it pulls up and I use it pretty much daily.

frazzledfragglefromfragglerock · 26/08/2021 13:50

Henry is the best

My shark is good too great suction but needs filters cleaning every 2 weeks or it starts to be crap. I have the cordless stick style. It's great to hoover round kitchen and dining every day. Doesn't get all the cat hair though so use Henry once a month in those rooms too.

My Miele is great, but just bought a Dyson Animal cordless which has been a game changer ... so simple to use.

I love my Shark but it is a corded one and not an anti-hair wrap one which I have been told makes a difference. Many of the shark issues are the cordless ones more often than not.

My absolute fave is the Dyson animal ball though. It must be well over a decade old now. We bought it when they first came out and other than it snapping a piece of plastic off that helps stand it up (just replaced with a screw!) it's brilliant. Amazing suction. It is heavy though.

All sharks I've had have been corddd corded 😞

Never got a cordless as I've always heard they're rubbish

@FiveShelties

Sebo excellent machine just does what it should do,
I also have had a Miele & Henry. Nothing touches the sebo.
TheOriginalMrsMoss · 26/08/2021 15:17

Miele Cat & Dog - beats anything hands down

Henry is ok for the price point but nothing has the suction and cleaning power of the above.

Dyson = dust cloud creating, plastic rubbish

BrassicaBabe · 26/08/2021 16:08

Bastarding shark. A newborn baby is less delicate!

I've had a dyson, two Miele and a shark. Now sticking with Henry!!

30kgtogo · 26/08/2021 17:13

Only had him a week, but Henry is a million times easier and more suction than any number of expensive Dysons we previously had.

ElvisPresleysSideburns · 26/08/2021 17:33

Shark hater here too. Have the cordless one, it's forever overheating. Sometimes after just 10 minutes.

Also have the Shark steam mop (why don't I ever learn?). Nightmare to manoeuvre, puts my black out every time.

Recently got a kitten, so interested to see what other pet owners recommend. I'd happily have a corded model, but would prefer bagless.

DinkBoo · 26/08/2021 17:41

I love my cordless Shark! Going strong for years, and perfect for quickly running round. We have two sheddy, indoor cats and it picks up fur brilliantly.

I have a corded lift away too, but it rarely leaves the cupboard.

Foxyloxy1plus1 · 26/08/2021 17:42

Henry attacks my shins all the time, but was quite useful when a new carpet was shedding.

The rest of the time, I’m fond of my Beko cordless.

WeAllHaveWings · 26/08/2021 19:10

Shark either has significant problems with its quality control or should be renamed the marmite of vacuuming!

AtALossWithThis · 26/08/2021 20:09

Iroomba 521. Bought it 9 years ago and it still cleans better than my dyson animal ever did. Love that it does all the work while I'm out too!

Boredmotherofone · 26/08/2021 21:54

@Yourstupidityexhaustsme

My Nana’s ‘hoover’ from the 1980’s.

Inherited it when we moved in together and barely had a pot to piss in. It was just meant to be a stop gap for a few months but we had it for ten years. It weighed a tonne and rumbled like a rabid but I hauled that fucker out monthly for a deep hoover.

The carpets were like brand new and always had a very sweet smell. I cried when she eventually died. I’ve found nothing that will ever compare.

Was it a Kirby by any chance?

Boredmotherofone · 26/08/2021 21:56

I have a Shark Lift Away and it's amazzzzzing!! I used it earlier and the suction is so powerful that I can barely push it across my (not very high pile) carpet! It's fantastic! As long as you empty it regularly & wash the filter. A filter wash ALWAYS brings the suction back if it's ever faded a bit

tiredanddangerous · 26/08/2021 21:59

Miele cat and dog or cordless shark.

SpeckledyHen · 26/08/2021 22:03

Best : Sebo
Worst : Shark . Dead on arrival . Poor customer service to return.

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 26/08/2021 22:05

Miele cylinder

Stigofthedump40 · 26/08/2021 22:19

Henry! Vax blade is the worst, i have more suction sucking on a lolly, and dont get me started on my cordless dyson.. ridiculously overpriced

Gooseysgirl · 26/08/2021 22:42

Miele Cat & Dog, ten years and still going strong!

Dreamstate · 26/08/2021 22:47

Miele

desperatehousewife2 · 26/08/2021 22:55

Had a Dyson for years which I hated, followed by a Vax which was even worse. Now have a Miele C3 Cat and Dog which has brilliant suction.

OhWhyNot · 26/08/2021 22:56

One I have now it’s by Bush.
Old fashioned upright hoover it is noisy though. My carpets look new picks up all the hair (nothing else has)
Cost £50 from Argos
Wouldn’t waste money on an expensive hoover again
