When do you personally think a tv series should have finished?

The last season of Once Upon A Time should not have happened.

It ended with a good ending in series 6, and then tried to do an entire new series with the same story line. Bad failure.

Glee. Although there are some good episodes when the original cast left for college, it should have finished after they won nationals and graduated high school.

Handmaids tale. I think it should have finished after series one.

@ThreeWitches

The Handmaids Tale should've ended with season 2. I have totally lost interest by 4.
I agree that season 3 was rubbish but this season has redeemed itself somewhat. Have you seen all of season 4?
torchh · 26/08/2021 15:26

@idontlikealdi

I had he misfortune to watch the remake of Gossip Girl last night, that should have been left well alone.

There are very very few series that improve past S1 imo.

Succession actually gets better into season 2!
IntermittentParps · 26/08/2021 15:29

I agree Succession gets better (although I liked it from the start anyway). Can't WAIT for the next series!

I'm actually furious with covid for delaying this show. I wonder why it's so underrated? Best thing on tv for a while

@SheldonesqueTheBstard

The most obvious of all!!!

Happy Days.

The episode before Fonzie pulled on his skis and jumped the thing with the fin.

Ah but then we wouldn't have 'Jump the shark' as the reference point for when all series go to shit Grin
QueenHofScotland · 26/08/2021 15:37

Killing Eve should have ended after season 2. A slight change to the final episode would have been enough.

I was desperate to watch season 3 and it was just awful from the start. It was like they had run out of ideas. Didn’t watch after episode 2.

QueenHofScotland · 26/08/2021 15:41

Suits - loved it and was so sad when it ended. However, hand on heart, it wasn’t the same after Mike left.

Myusernameisnotmyusernameno · 26/08/2021 15:47

Waterloo road should have stopped before they moved the school to Scotland

Bloodypunkrockers · 26/08/2021 15:51

It pains me to say it but Friday Night Dinner

The last episode was perfect but the rest of that last series was not nearly as good as the previous series.

KintsugiCat · 26/08/2021 15:56

@TerribleCustomerCervix

The US Office should’ve ended after Michael left.

There were some good episodes afterwards but it was never the same without him. The replacement bosses were too zany, creepy or just ridiculous.

The really sad thing about that is that Steve Carroll wanted to continue. The network just never had that conversation with him when his contract came to an end.

My only guess is that they thought he’d ask for megabucks as he’d become so famous.

torchh · 26/08/2021 15:59

Wasn't Steve Carrell already mega famous?

GhostRyder · 26/08/2021 16:03

Prison Break should never have had that last season. It was a beautiful ending when Michael died after he broke Sarah out of prison. Why did they have to go and ruin it

Polmuggle · 26/08/2021 16:05

I disagree on friends just because of the Mike + Phoebe storyline, which was great.

The Good Wife should have gone on longer (with Will) but I like the Good Fight!

GoT should have ended with White Walkers

Orange is the New Black should have finished about 3 seasons before it did.

Stranger Things should have been a one season wonder

So should Big Little Lies.

SquirryTheSquirrel · 26/08/2021 16:06

Not a TV series, but 'Toy Story 4' was a big mistake.

midsomermurderess · 26/08/2021 16:09

Killing Eve is long past its best. The first series was extraordinary, gleefully amoral, such a blast. Series 2 kept some of that fizz. That was enough. I think Line of Duty can lay down its hat quite respectably now too. And I agree about The Handmaid's Tail, 'torture porn' about sums it up.

BIoodyStupidJohnson · 26/08/2021 16:13

Buffy should have finished after season 5 (although I do really like the musical episode, which was in season 6).

In contrast, Angel could have done with another season or two.

Sex and the City should have finished after season 4.

Modern Family became inessential after about season 5.

I'd be happy for Supernatural to go on forever but that's because I like gazing at Jared Padalecki. Objectively speaking, it lost it after season 3 really. When they started getting all biblical it became a bit bloated and wafty (although there have been good episodes and seasons since).

Sidge · 26/08/2021 16:16

Killing Eve. Series 1 was incredible, series 2 was pretty good but series 3 was dire. I don’t think I even watched the last two episodes.

Line of Duty. Loved it, until the last series which was so dull, and the last episode was the biggest anticlimax ever. I literally sat there going “was that it?”

QueenHofScotland · 26/08/2021 16:17

Ah yes I agree. I so wanted to love it because the others were fab. But the whole spoon / fork thing was never ending
Cupoftea53 · 26/08/2021 16:19

Agree with those saying about Six Feet Under being the right length, it was just perfect in how the ending glimpsed into the future. One of the best series I have ever seen.

Orgasmagorical · 26/08/2021 16:20

Breaking Bad went on a bit.

Ihaveoflate · 26/08/2021 16:21

Agree with Killing Eve - it's now so bad it's beyond parody.

Lost lost its way somewhere around series 3.

Losing Faith was an enjoyable first series which should not have continued. Series 3 was so bad it was laughable. Celia Imrie as Faith's criminal mother was appalling casting.

SevenOldLadies · 26/08/2021 16:21

Broadchurch should have finished after Season 2 (or even Season 1). The third series was rubbish.

MoChridhe · 26/08/2021 16:28

I agree with once upon a time
Suits should have ended after Mike's secret was discovered.
Orange is the new black should have ended in season 4

APJ1 · 26/08/2021 16:36

I agree about Killing Eve. Changing writers every Season just makes it worse. S1 was fantastic, S2 was, in my view, bordering on pathetic and then S3 was just...weird.

CassandraCross · 26/08/2021 16:36

Broadchurch was a good one-off drama and that is how it should have stayed, the following seasons were crap.
