Microsoft Teams issue while interviewing - help?

KatDubs261 · 26/08/2021 11:30

I recently was asked to attend an interview via Teams and took the afternoon off work to do this. I signed up for an account separate to my work teams account using my personal address - all good I thought.

But when the time came to join the interview, I signed in using my personal account and when I actually joined the call, it pulled me into my work account. This happened repeatedly and eventually I had to leave it. So it looked like I was on a call while I was meant to be off!

Does anyone know why this is happening and any way around it? I have another interview lined up tomorrow and facing the same issue.

Try a different device and test beforehand that is doesn't pull you into your work account?

Try going in through an incognito browser so it doesn't recognise your other teams account?

Oh, actually, that may not work. It works for zoom accounts though.

Did you log out of your works teams account before joining the call?

Yes I think I might have to do that @Youcanchangeyournamebut.

Unfortunately the camera on my work device is excellent and the camera on my new laptop is not great. That's why I want to use the work device until I can get a better came to add on.

@JuneOsborne yes I logged out completely.

Tbf using a work machine for an interview is not really acceptable. I don't think using your laptop's camera will make a much difference in an interview unless its for a modelling job

It's to do with how Windows handles accounts, and yes it's a fairly common complaint. Might be hard to solve without breaking your work stuff.

What rubbish

@Shirleyphallus Grin gave me a laugh at least. Also interviewers have been requesting camera on.

I'll need to see if I can just get it working on the other laptop then. Not ideal but I can't really risk that happening again @safariboot
