It’s so hard to explain but started a few days ago. You know when you are on a rollercoaster and you get that whoosh feeling in your stomach, I feel getting that sort of sensation but in the top of my chest/back. It happens a few times a day and it feels so strange. I’m not sure if it’s anxiety, heartburn or something more sinister. But I don’t know how to explain it or any ideas what it could be as Iv googled and found nothing. I don’t really want to call the doctor if it’s just anxiety as I’m on medication for it already.

Thank you

I used to get this and my GP said it was anxiety (I knew it wasn't) and prescribed beta blockers. I collapsed one day and was taken to hospital and after investigations it turned out my iron levels were very low. I had an iron infusion and it stopped happening.

If you're noticing it's not a one off and it's concerning you enough to ask on MN then it's worth a call to the doctor. It's probably nothing but at least you'll have had it professionally confirmed.

I came on to say iron too.
I was getting the occasional ‘full’ feeling in the top of my chest, followed by a big heart beat and then fast heart beat for a short time. I assumed it was peri menopause, but it disappeared when I was diagnosed as low ferritin and given iron.

I think it might be my iron actually! I’m so tired all the time and keep going lightheaded/dizzy 😩
