Boring request.. VAT

I've got to file a vat return but when I go onto the government website it states that I have to do it via vat software which I need to download. I'm a complete luddite so would be ever so grateful if someone could give me the idiot's guide to filing a vat return. Thanks in advance

You will need what is known as bridging software.

Assuming you don't have accounts software and are just using Excel.

I use Tax Optimiser which is £40 pa.
