Quick!! Have I ruined my curry?!

I am cooking a curry tonight... it calls for mustard oil/canola oil during the marinating process.

I'm way ahead of time (great, more time for the flavour to develop) but just realised this says external use only... it says it's used for massaging on the back!!

Can I use this?! Will I die? Have I spoiled the curry more importantly BlushGrin

I guess it won’t be food quality?

I have no idea, but this has made me laugh so much Grin

What's the ingredients? Is there anything added like perfume?

I can't attach the picture of the back for some reason...

The back says "pressed from the finest select mustard seeds to produce a legendary massage oil" Blush

White mustard seed and oil only in the ingredients?

It says on the bottle external use only. I wouldn't risk it sorry 🤣

PMSL 😂

It will be fine and if you have any curry leftovers you can rub them into your back

Mamamamasaurus · 25/08/2021 11:21

From DH: mustard oil is commonly used across Asia (he's from southern Asia) but it hasn't so far been 'allowed' in the UK for food use. All the bottles you see here say 'external use only' but my family have used it for generations and I know lots of families who have too

I saw a link up thread that mustard oil has been ruled safe to use but I didn't click the link as yet.

You haven't ruined your curry though!

I just kormover to say the same thing
HPandTheNeverEndingBedtime · 25/08/2021 11:24

The link above says that an ingredient in mustard oil has links to heart problems if consumed in large amount hence revioisly only being advertised as external only. Therefore I'd say you would be fine as the amount you used would have been a small quantity
