I’m looking to buy some chocolates as a gift. I think Lindt chocolates are very nice, but I’m looking to buy something extra special. Does anyone have any recommendations? Thank you.

Leonidas for cream fillings or Charbonnel and Walker for fondants would be my picks.

TheDogsMother · 25/08/2021 19:23

Love Paul A Young. For a more widely available choc either Hotel Chocolat or Montezumas.

Bettys chocolates are amazing. I love them.

Audreys chocolates. Suppliers to Fortnum and Mason and by far the best chocolates I've ever had
I was coming on to say this. They're incredible.

See if you have anything local we have a tiny chocolatier nearby and their handmade chocolates are incredible.

Paul A Young salted caramels - or any of his chocolates really

Beat me to it! The salted caramels are lovely.

AnnaSW1 · 25/08/2021 20:18

Paul A young are the best in my opinion

DGFB · 25/08/2021 20:20

Leonidas.. amazing

SeraphinaDombegh · 25/08/2021 20:21

Last year I discovered a wonderful little independent chocolatier in Haworth. Their truffles are honestly one of the best things I've ever eaten. The salted caramel and coconut oil ones are HEAVENLY. www.andchocolate.co.uk Smile

NotMeNoNo · 25/08/2021 22:03

Support a local business if you can. I found two independent chocolatiers near us and the one I visited was amazing.
(Chocolate Utopia in Nottingham)

These are great holdsworthchocolates.co.uk and I have recommended them to everyone I know- found them on Amazon originally but you can buy direct on the website. Now wondering if I really need a special occasion- sod it I'm ordering for myself now Grin

Not a fan of Chococo. Found it too waxy. I love Godiva, Hotel Chocolat and Fortnum and Mason.

Charbonnel rose and Violet creams - just the best

maybelou · 26/08/2021 00:10

I currently have no taste due to Covid and reading this thread is absolute torture!!!

WelliesWithHeels · 26/08/2021 00:36

I love the rose and violet (especially the violet) creams from Charbonnel et Walker.

mantlepiece · 26/08/2021 01:02

Charbonnel and Walker gets my vote!

Bechocolatbrighton.com

Michel Clements artisan chocs from here are beyond delicious and really reasonable I think!

Angliski · 26/08/2021 04:54

Also Audreys in hove have been doing handmade chocs for decades

Egghead68 · 29/08/2021 06:45

I’ve just tried the Paul A Young ones because of this thread.

I thought they were nice but not particular special or memorable. For me the Rococo salted caramels are better than his.

MakkaPakkas · 29/08/2021 06:54

Paul A Young are the best.

Appleseesaw · 29/08/2021 07:37

Thank you. Smile I am working my way through the list and looking at each and every suggestion.

Your fresh cream chocolate from 20 years ago could have been by Leonidas. Superb.
Don't think it's part of their current range, but their chocolates are excellent. Available on line (or Harrod's?)
