We are making the most of the nice weather tomorrow and if being my birthday and taking the DC to the beach in the afternoon and going to watch the sunset with a picnic from Waitrose (lots of bubbles for me)

We used to live near a big Waitrose and I was very up to date with all their tempting treats but we have since moved...

What should I add to my basket that I won’t regret...

Definitely Fiona Cairns cupcakes, they come in a box of 6 for £5. Gorgeous

@GhostRyder just checked them out and they look beautiful and perfect for a birthday picnic.

@Loveatthe5anddime the sponge is so beautifully moist and icing isn’t too much either x

And happy birthday for tomorrow!

The ricotta stuffed peppers from the deli counter are AMAZING

Oh that sounds truly wonderful and I'm incredibly jealous! Have a FANTASTIC birthday OP and enjoy those bubbles.

I'm not so super au fair with Waitrose picnic selection but don't forget some delicious olives to go with those bubbles. Yum!

Biscoff yum yum, rhubarb and custard yum yum, cinnamon buns.

ooo lovely -
Smoked salmon tureen (and something if your choice to spread it on)
Mozzarella balls and sun dried toms (messy but worth it)
Pecorino and basil dip (and something to dip)
Gooseberry fool

Many Waitroses now have a fresh sushi counter and it's really good, a world away from the prepared stuff in the sandwich section.

There's a gorgeous chicken liver pate, I can't remember what it's called, it's in a little tub with a black card sleeve usually in the fridge where the olives and dips are, that and some crusty bread or good crackers.

When Ocado stocked Waitrose food, I used occasionally to get these, or something very similar, as a treat. www.waitrose.com/ecom/products/waitrose-2-scottish-smoked-salmon-parcels/855877-757119-757120 Smoked salmon parcels, filled with a mixture of cooked salmon and cream cheese.

Many happy returns for tomorrow!

The new levante kitchen beetroot, yoghurt and sumac is delicious with some crudités, toasted pita strips or breadsticks.

itoldyouyouwouldntlikeit · 25/08/2021 15:20

ALL THE CHEESE

thismeansnothing · 26/08/2021 16:38

The raspberry eclaires and mini pesto pork pies. They are niiiiiice

thismeansnothing · 26/08/2021 16:39

Watermelon fingers and duchy strawberries for some health 🤣

Oooo and a Marlborough bun.

Belvoire rose and elderflower cordial and a bottle of soda water

Clavinova · 26/08/2021 17:09

Don't forget paper napkins - Waitrose have some lovely floral napkins - 'pink garden rose'.

WellTidy · 26/08/2021 17:13

Waitrose own brand beetroot and mint houmous is amazing. Absolutely amazing. It is with the rest of the houmous, taramasalata etc - not with the new levante range.
