What's the best nail polish brand?

After 40+ years of nail biting, I've finally cracked the habit and have lovely long nails to paint!
My nail polish is mostly really old manky bottles, so I'm going to treat myself to some new ones. I have bought a Sally Hansen one which i really like but it's not got a massive range of colours. So what is the best one to buy? Quick drying, long lasting, nice colours?

I used to like OPI but now only wear Mavala.

Doesn’t chip and the colours are lovely.

I like the Essie Gel Effect ones. Last a full week on me, which not many others do.

Second PP about Essie but for a cheaper option I would also recommend Barry M. Lots of colours and with a topcoat lasts just fine

I rate Essie over everything else I’ve tried but it’s also down to the application. You need a good base coat and top coat.

Barry M or Stargazer seem to be the longest lasting ones in my experience, and I've tried all the expensive brands.

Sally Hansen Miracle Gel. By a mile. It lasts over a week. You do need to make sure you have the top coat as well though.

If you have a beauty outlet near you, they sell it for £3 a bottle there. I stock up whenever I go!

Surprised no one's said Nails Inc. I've been using them for 15 years.

Essie colour polishes are good but I will only use them with the nails inc base and top coats

Essie with an Essie 'gel' topcoat. Easily lasts a week

I find the key is taking the time to do a base and top coat, makes it last so much longer.

Seren nail varnish from the Beauty Base shops with their LA Color top coat. Lasts a whole week without chipping.

Lots of votes for Essie, I will have a look and see what I can find. I've got a base and top coat which seem pretty good.

I find Mavala amazing for longevity and lovely colours. Inexpensive too.
I'm currently loving Dior Nailglow which is just a paint it on and off you go pale pink number. Brilliant for lazy folk like me!

Always use a top coat. I use Leighton Denny.

Absolutely Essie, I’ve tried everything from Chanel to Rimmel but Essie is the best by a country mile, loads of choice of colours too

Essie and Revlon (favourite colour is cherries in the snow)

Also like Rimmel 60 second dry it does chip but so easy to touch up (but not the very dark red)

I've bought a job lot of different colours from eBay of Sally Hansen. I love the coverage of all of them. I use Sally Hansen instadry as a tip coat and the polish lasts 7 to 10 days.

Posh celeb manicurist uses Biosculpture gel. Not used it myself, so can't personally vouch for it but she only uses the best products.

TBH I use Opi Nail Envy as a base coat and Sally Hansen top coat and that makes a huge difference to the staying power of my nail polish. I quite like W7 for range of colours and application.
