DD is going into year 6 so we’ll be going to the open days for these schools next month but I was wondering if anyone who has children there, could give me their opinion as we’ve heard bad things about both!
No SEN but a shy child who struggles with friendships.
Academically she is above average according to teachers and test results.

My eldest DCs went to Tad. We had no issues at all with the school. DS has just left after finishing yr13 and he did really well there and it suited him academically. Don't know much about Boston specifically, but they're not dissimilar. Both are large schools, much larger than others in the area such as Wetherby or Sherburn, but they both tend to be oversubscribed as they do well academically. They're both in decent areas & they take from geographically quite wide catchment areas. Visiting an open evening is definitely worthwhile as it will give you a good feel for both schools.

We will be in this position next year (oldest DD about to go into year 5). I don’t have personal experience of either school but know parents of children at both. I have heard that Boston Spa has improved significantly recently and the parents I know say their children are doing well there, although the children say the rules are very strict! Tadcaster has always had a good reputation but hasn’t had the money spent to improve the site as Boston has recently. Again, the parents I know are happy with the school and say their child is also happy there.
I’ve only really heard positives about both so would be interested to know what the bad things you have heard are if you’re willing to say?
