Looking for a crochet pattern.

I’ve seen a crocheted blanket that I love, but can’t find the pattern anywhere. It’s the one outlined in black in the photo. I have emailed stylecraft, but wondered if anyone here recognised it. Can anyone help? Thanks in advance! Smile

Have you tried the Advanced Search facility under patterns on Ravelry?

No, I haven’t heard of that, but will give it a go, thank you!

I saw that the other day! Crochet fanatic here.

I was googling ‘crochet Orla Kiely’ as they search term if that helps!

I want to make an Afghan with the flower shapes she uses!

The main blanket on the right is Janie Crow's Eastern Jewels Persian Tiles blanket so possibly the other blankets are by her too?

Createdjustforthis · 24/08/2021 12:59

It’s the small square from the Demelza cal! I knew I recognised it

Yes. This post is written by the person who made the blanket in the OPs post and it credits the square.

Well done to the poster who found it!

I love patterns like that which are simple to make but look very effective when made up.

Occitane · 28/08/2021 19:36

Don't know if anyone is still reading this, but I made a start. Really enjoying it so far. Grin

Wow that looks like that'll be great! I've just started learning crochet and finding the very basics difficult! How long did it take you to get to that standard?

Thank you!

I learned how to crochet from a book about 30 years ago, but didn't do any for about 20 years. I started again a few years ago, but wouldn't class myself as an expert! These squares were not very difficult. There are some stitches such as back post treble and front post double treble that I had to look up. They are a little tricky at first but ok when you get used to them. Maybe not if you are a complete beginner though!

You could try some of the blankets from the Attic 24 website. I've just done the meadow blanket, and it was really easy.

They are lovely. I also learned from a book 30 years ago, left it for about 20 years, then took it up again!

Createdjustforthis · 02/09/2021 21:12

Gorgeous!! Just gorgeous. Did you go with the yarn suggested?

HPandTheNeverEndingBedtime · 02/09/2021 21:19

@sojo88 I learnt from the Attic 24 blog, my first blanket was the granny stripe one, you can ofcourse use your own colours but blanket colour packs are sold by wool warehouse.

Once you can do a chain and a triple stitch you'll be able to make that blanket. Even now if I'm doing a stitch I haven't done for a while I'll refresh my memory using YouTube, just be aware that the names for US and UK stitches use the same names but different stitches which I didn't realise for a while. I've never gotten on with squares my edges always curl and I'm not great at stitching them together so I tend to do blankets in rows.

LaurieSchafferIsAllBitterNow · 02/09/2021 21:25

@HPandTheNeverEndingBedtime if your edges curl you can try a larger hook, or maybe try a little less tension on the yarn which makes the stitches a little more relaxed, or make more chains for the gaps or corners.

Thank you OP and @HPandTheNeverEndingBedtime - I will definitely check out Attic 24. I've been learning and practising about four days now and don't know what I should be able to do at this point but it's not going well...I think I'm a bit impatient, I already want to start on a project! Will keep practising - glad to know blankets aren't too difficult to make!

My personal view is that if you know the basic stitches then I’d get stuck straight in with a well written and video tutored pattern. I always suggest Sophie’s universe for this, I’ve known complete beginners do it and indeed managed it myself. lookatwhatimade.net/crafts/yarn/crochet/sophies-universe-cal-2015/sophies-universe-cal-2015-information/

Four days? That’s great! What about making a blanket made from squares? It doesn’t take too long and it feels great when you finish each square. And you can make the blanket as big or small as you like. I made one recently using the circle of friends pattern and enjoyed doing that.

Was this for me? If so, thank you!

Yes, I went with the colours recommended on the Lucia’s fig tree blog. I think they were white, spice, apricot, saffron, stone, pistachio and duck egg. I’m not going to join them with a lacy stitch though, I’m looking for something more solid.

Sojo88 · 03/09/2021 23:13

@Createdjustforthis the thing is I've barely mastered basic stitch! I know how to do it I just can't do it neatly and I'm only practising but I keep unravelling and starting again. Some areas of arts and crafts I do ok and some I just can't do well...but thank you, I will check out that link you sent!

OP, your encouragement is much appreciated! Smilea blanket is the thing I want to make most and I gather that is one of the more easier projects which is great. I just need to keep practising, I won't let it beat me!
