Dry robe/ similar for beach

Has anyone used these? 12 year old who likes being in the water in all weathers (wetsuit) but very whiny once out. Wondering if one of these would help with the comfort factor and enable her to stay out longer (thus not having to revolve entire family day out around her.
Also camping showers, lots of river swimming etc, so think we’d get use out of it.
Any recommendations for brand/ sizing?

I have this and wear it in extreme weather for hiking with my dogs.

It’s massive!

For a child I would go with the shorter sleeve type as the long sleeve one is so oversized.

I got an adult towelling poncho from salt rock. I love it!! It's very warm on the beach and perfect for camping showers (which is what I bought it for)

Long sleeve at the top scroll down for shorter sleeve.

They’re brilliant. Got one for teen who refuses to get out of the water they love it so much but then shivers on the beach for hours.

Total game changer

I've got this which I like, washes well and quite thick and comfortable to wear on the beach when doing stuff with kids etc

I looked at lots and decided against the more windproof dry robes as I am less likely to need it for winter and they take longer to dry

Partner has a decathlon one which is also fine but much thinner and not as cosy but he likes it

CMOTDibbler · 24/08/2021 12:06

The Charlie McLeod ones are really good, and they really do make a difference in enjoying camping/swimming/watersports. In the winter, I put a hot water bottle in mine while I am swimming so that it is toasty when I get in.
The resale value on all the big name robes is really good, and though I was a hold out against one when I first started outdoor swimming I wouldn't be without it now.

rapanuiclothing.com/product/women-s-organic-cotton-surf-towel/. My kids fight over mine.. youngest is 12. Not as expensive as the dry robe and is quite thick. (Plus a host of eco credentials that go with it)

I’ve literally just been looking at these!

Though some of the reviews on Amazon don’t favour it.

I’d like someone who can either recommend it or not. Seems to be a bit of a ‘thing’ right now

We have dryrobe shorter sleeve style. I'm 5'2 size 14 and a adult small gives enough room to change and be so warm. Best thing I ever brought for the water

seven201 · 24/08/2021 16:53

I bought a pattern and made one using ripstop/tent fabric, thin towel and a fleece blanket layer. Took bloody forever to make but works a treat for my 5 year old. Luckily I made it in massive size so it will last her another few years.

parrotonmyshoulder · 24/08/2021 17:32

I’m going to get one. Looking at ‘Two Bare Feet’ as the price is not quite so eye watering as some. Haven’t pressed ‘buy’ yet!

My daughter has the Frostfire Moonwrap to keep her warm after playing rugby. On really cold days I pop a hot water bottle in it so she can warm up quickly in the car. It is fantastic.
