What little things do you buy if you are finally financially stable?

I'm not talking big houses or flash cars. More innocuous things.
Mine is fresh lemons and limes. I'm extremely frugal when it comes to shopping and always bought the bottles of concentrated juice for cooking or drinks but realised in the past year or so I've added them to my grocery shop without a second thought about the extra couple of quid.

Kirkland kitchen roll. Ocado deliveries. Champagne instead of wine.

Last week I had a proper meal delivered from a proper local restaurant (not a fast food place) because I was home alone and CBA to put proper clothes on. Steak Frites, Bearnaise Sauce and a green salad. That was a real luxury, it's only 2 minutes away so it arrived hot and fresh and I enjoyed every single mouthful.

Natural fabric cloths
A weekly cleaner (who also irons the cotton stuff..) - it’s real luxe, I only just moved up from fortnightly and I really don’t need to
Convenience food - micro packets of rice, Cook frozen meals, salad bags
Cheap supermarket flowers
Random things from Amazon - enough lunchboxes for the week, storage baskets
Nice mugs

Walking around the supermarket picking the foods I want to eat rather that what I can afford like I did as a child.
Lunches from the farm shop each week.
Nice cars and a cleaner.

Being able to entertain.

After the last eighteen months there's a lot to catch up on and it's nice to be able to invite as many people as possible as often as possible to our house.

Oh. And my beloved nespresso subscription. That feels like a luxury.
I don't feel financially stable though! 😬

Egghead68 · 24/08/2021 22:44

Nice presents for people.

Expensive holidays.

badg3r · 24/08/2021 22:52

Oh I bought a soda stream recently too! Also lots of fruit, coffee and cake out, good chocolate. As a student I counted every penny. I still feel grateful regularly now that I don't have to worry about money, ten years on. Being mega rich probably doesn't make you mega happy, but these little things make me feel so good!

sleepfortheweek · 24/08/2021 22:58

Things for other people.

I have two friends both of whom are going through a hard time. I'd love to have the spare cash to buy them flowers, take them for lunch, get them a memento of a lost loved ones etc

NotTheGreatGatsy · 24/08/2021 23:46

Legs of Iberico Bellota ham from Spain
Camera equipment
Bikes
Lego sets
Paints and drawing pencils

LostPencilSOS · 24/08/2021 23:47

@ssd ah right ok! I agree with the 'posh' Regina 😄

Benvolio · 24/08/2021 23:55

A Bellicon mini trampoline with not too taut bounce. So relaxing. Knitting wool. Makeup even though I can't be bothered to wear it much.

madamecake · 25/08/2021 09:01

Fresh flowers, a new houseplant, posh candles, and “fun” makeup (I count foundation, concealer etc as essential but eyeshadow palettes, new blusher shades as as a treat).

Also olives from the olive counter at booths

MonsterMunchConnoisseur · 25/08/2021 09:32

Fresh flowers. Normally tulips or daffodils so not exactly pricy.
Cleaner that comes once a week to sort out downstairs. I despise cleaning but love a clean house so this is a dream come true.
If I am feeling really flush I might buy a punnet of cherries. No idea why as they are only a few pounds but they always seem indulgent to me.

It's brilliant stuff. Anything else pales in comparison. I try to ration it, but I do put the used (non minging obvs) stuff in the recycling ♻️

secretangel · 25/08/2021 17:02

Nice knickers- even my day to day knickers are a pack of 5 from NEXT for £15 which feels indulgent
Woodwork Candles
Moisture bomb face masks
Luxury bath oil
Shellac manicure
Fresh flowers in my bedroom (from Aldi)
Night repair 😄

All treats from me to me Smile

NotTheGreatGatsy · 25/08/2021 22:57

@ImAddictedToMyPhone

Top shelf meat products. Definitely a luxury for me.
What does this mean?
NotTheGreatGatsy · 25/08/2021 22:58

Mine is definitely very regular iced coffee. I do make it at home but it's a faff cooling it down etc. So this is a nice treat.

I drink iced coffee every day. Why is it a faff? You just pour it over ice?

NotTheGreatGatsy · 25/08/2021 23:01

Lastly I like to randomly send my daughter treats as she works so hard, so for example last month sent her a hamper, and fhen last week sent her some bottles of premixed cocktails., other times irs nice chocolates etc. Just random treats really.

That is so lovely. Smile

Egyptian cotton jumbo bath sheets (they are a game-changer if you are 6feet+). I’ve always been too mean to buy full size towels but after staying in hotels - I could never go back to anything smaller than a bath sheet.

M&S underwear, anything else feels inferior now.

Flying business class: I am so fortunate to be able to fly business class on a regular basis however I research a lot and take advantage of deals so it’s not as expensive as you might think.

Treating my family to gifts - I love being able to buy stuff for my family members (nothing major really) without worrying much.

Filling my tank up without worrying.

Which brand of towels do you use. I'm about to buy some new ones.
