What little things do you buy if you are finally financially stable?

I'm not talking big houses or flash cars. More innocuous things.
Mine is fresh lemons and limes. I'm extremely frugal when it comes to shopping and always bought the bottles of concentrated juice for cooking or drinks but realised in the past year or so I've added them to my grocery shop without a second thought about the extra couple of quid.

Things like raw king prawns, decent fish and Rib eye steak.

Passthecake30 · 23/08/2021 22:13

A monthly massage.

However, I’ve recently upgraded my car from an old banger and now I want frequent valeting like @TooWicked!

Mumoftwoinprimary · 23/08/2021 22:13

Books. I love books.

A regular chiropractor and chiropodist.

@MondeoFan

A decent candle. Around once a month. £30 ish. Worth every penny to me, home from work, slippers on, and lovely candle lit

Amen!

LadyJaye · 23/08/2021 22:15

Flowers.

I get a box a month from a well-known online retailer and it feels like a MASSIVE TREAT. Costs £25. I earn not quite the fabled MN six figures, but not far away from it. Mortgage free, debt free, no kids etc, and fairly frugal in my habits otherwise.

I didn't grow up poor per se - probably better described as 'financially chaotic' - but the fact that I now have this small thing in my life feels HUGE.

Toddlerteaplease · 23/08/2021 22:16

Reflexology, a cleaner, coffee shop coffee.

Waveafterwaveslowlydrifting · 23/08/2021 22:18

David lloyd gym membership. I go 5 days a week and really enjoy it. There's Elemis shower gel and body lotion in the changing rooms, loads of excellent classes and a fab outdoor pool (nice indoor one too with a spa pool.)

Wow, this thread has really made me check my privilege

A pre-packaged sandwich (the height of lazyness for me usually!) and a new book as opposed to a 2nd hand one from a charity shop. Simple pleasures.

ShingleBeach · 23/08/2021 22:28

I am stable and ok but can’t go mad over a modest budget.

President unsalted butter
Waitrose ground coffee, the named ‘single estate’ ones.
Method clear hand wash
Sourdough bread
Good knitwear

milkmet · 23/08/2021 22:29

As a PP said, pre chopped fruit, coffee out ‘just because’. Those little £1 rides outside the supermarkets (for DD not me…). Random Amazon purchases as seen on TicToc. Fancy curry mixes from Booths.

Cheeseycheeseycheesecheese · 23/08/2021 22:29

A subscription box, I get a box of new books every 2 months, I love it!

catfunk · 23/08/2021 22:32

@MinesAMassiveSalad

I clicked on to write the one that I always notice:

Lemons and limes.😂

And do you know, if you had said those £1 rides WERE for you, I would not have judged you in the slightest. Small joys. Grin

Meat! Especially red meat. We eat veggie or veggie plus cheap meat like bacon bits or sausages. My mum bought us some lamb steaks recently and I would love to feel rich enough to do that more often.

BirdyBee · 23/08/2021 22:34

Some lovely wax melts each month and the mac and cheese ready meal from cook with a ready done salad from m and s also once a month!

catfunk · 23/08/2021 22:36

@MondeoFan any candle recommendations?

I started sneaking an Aldi one in recently, only a few quid but feels a bit of a treat x

Katyowl · 23/08/2021 22:39

MegBusset · 23/08/2021 22:40

Not much beats an aldi candle for vfm. No. 22s have just arrived back in stock in my local. I bought a job lot for when my covid goes away and I can smell again Grin

SantiagoSky · 23/08/2021 22:48

Organic fruit/veg, meat, and dairy
1st class train tickets
Cleaner and sometimes gardener
High quality products

whatwasIgoingtosay · 23/08/2021 22:50

I buy 3 newspapers on a Saturday, all with colour supplements, so it comes to about £8.50. I love reading the supplements in bed and the newspapers last me half the week. Feels like a huge indulgence!
