I posted in the travel section but got no replies so I’m trying chat for traffic!

I’m looking for a nice hotel in the Orlando / Kissimmee area.
We would consider a villa complex with a reception/clubhouse too - but don’t want a stand-alone / private rental villa.

Nice pool area with a lazy river if possible.
15 min ish drive from the Disney parks.

Hit me with your recommendations please mumsnet!

We stayed in the Rosen Inn on international drive. It was fine, clean and spacious. Has a small pool and shuttle to universal. The tram stopped outside and you could go to the outlets or seaworld.

We did stay at Disney for the first 2 nights and would really recommend this if you can. It helped so much with jetlag. We were able to just get on shuttlebus at airport and next day we were able to come and go as we were tired on the Disney bus. It also helps with getting used to the humidity. I've never felt anything like it.

I'm still jealous though Grin I'd go back tomorrow

Don’t know much about hotels as we always stay in a villa. There are lots of rental communities in Orlando close to Disney. We used to own a house on Windsor Hills and could get to Animal Kingdom via the back roads in about 10 minutes. We have also stayed on Windsor Palms and Emerald Island. Reunion is very nice but is a bit further away. There are loads more but it depends on your budget and how far you want to be from the parks.

I forgot to mention the obvious! By staying at Disney you get earlier access to book your fastpass for the more popular rides.
We stayed at the Disney all star music - basic but only something like 80 pounds per night.

We stayed at this one a few years ago -it was awesome!
We even had a suite type room which was 2 bedrooms linked with a lounge / dining room

We have a fairly generous budget - up to about $250 per night I guess.
Sorry, should have mentioned that we will be staying at a Disney resort for a few days as well - but we can’t afford it for the whole holiday (three weeks).

The Hilton mentioned is part of a big resort with a Waldorf at one end of it if you want to go really upmarket. Great resort transport too. There is a lazy river at the Hilton end.

@ShoppingBasket They're changing the fast pass system up as well as the das system. So wouldn’t book a Disney hotel based on that anymore, I’d not think, not worth it.

We stayed at the Ritz Carlton which was amazing. Think we must have got a deal because the three star hotels we were looking at cost much more. Weird. Had a lazy river too.

Depending on your budget you might like to take a look.

Neither we nor our DCs are really Disney people, so we usually went very early, finished the various resorts by 12pm and were back in the hotel sunbathing and swimming after that. Perfect.
They liked the water parks best.

Have fun!
