Is anyone clever at maths that can help me work something out? My head is spinning.

Im working out how much I'll need to pay my childminder once he's 3.

He'll get the 30 hours a week free for 38 weeks of the year.
She doesn't work Fridays and takes off 19 working days a year. Which works out 4.75 weeks.

I was able to figure it out, until I remember she doesn't work Fridays and that threw me completely.

I can't ask her for 2 weeks because she's in another country on holiday. And I don't want to wait til she gets back because I'm painfully painfully broke and I really need this light at the end of the tunnel.

Can anyone help?

Well you haven’t said how much she charges? Grin

MrsRobbieHart · 23/08/2021 09:08

Or how many hours he goes to her during the week

Summerrain123 · 23/08/2021 09:08

Does she spread the 38 weeks over the year (assume she must if doesn’t work Fridays).

Does she charge extras like lunch?

Howshouldibehave · 23/08/2021 09:12

How is anyone supposed to give you a price based on that information?! Grin

I'm a cm and offer the funding stretched over 48 weeks at 23.75 hours a week. Does that help?
His annual entitlement is 1140 funded hours.

HurryUpAndWait23 · 23/08/2021 09:16

Oh I thought it was 38 weeks.

He does 36 hours a week.

I didn't mention the payment because I could figure that out. But it's £5.50 an hour.

I did figure out it's £282 a month but I that's when I thought it was 38 weeeks.

52-4.75 = 47.25 (payable weeks per year)

1140/47.25= 24.12 (hours per week)

24.12/4 (as she only works 4 day a week) = 6.03 (free hours per day)

So your son gets 6 free hours per day.

ineedaholidaynow · 23/08/2021 09:19

I think it is 38 weeks as same as school terms but some places spread it over the year, so you are not paying full amount in summer holidays. I assume the CM spreading it over 48 weeks does this as has holiday for 4 weeks in the year

MrsRobbieHart · 23/08/2021 09:21

Ok so 36 hours- 24 free hours = 12 paid for hours.

12X £5.50 = £66.00 per week

66x 52 = £3432

£3432/ 12 (months) = £286 per month paid to childminder.

HurryUpAndWait23 · 23/08/2021 09:22

Ok 38 weeks, I think I have basically what MrsRobbieHart has. And that's roughly £282 a month if it's spread across 12 months of the year.
