Vacuum help... Allergy friendly, what to buy?

I need to buy a new hoover ASAP.
I've been round and round in circles so I'm hoping MN can just tell me what to buy!
DS just been diagnosed with severe dust mite allergy so needs to be a good allergy vacuum.
We only have carpet upstairs and in the front room.
We have a small dog with tiny hairs and you don't notice them.
We have always had dysons.
I'd like bagless I guess because that's what I'm used to....
Can MN please help!
TIA!

Get a Miele cylinder allergy one, it's brilliant. Bagged is better one, as all the dust is contained.

Sorry can't help on the vacuum but I changed my daughters entire bed set (so duvet, pillows and got a mattress protector), and got hypoallergenic stuff. Her fairly severe dust mite allergy, as identified by a private consultant at a hospital, cleared up pretty much overnight. I just wanted to give you some hope!

Damp dusting really helps too plus protectors on the bed as the pp says.

Thanks so much for posting!
That's a good tip about the bedding, I will definitely do that.
And tha ks for the hoover reccomendation, should I get the bag one?

We always had dysons. Our newest is the shark liftaway anti hair wrap pet one. I've got dogs and 7 cats and kids. It's amazing in comparison to our dysons and we thought they were good

Watching with interest.

Don’t get the Shark stick vacuum. We bought the top of the range anti hair pet one and, whilst great for day to day use, it only seems to lift the surface dust from the carpets.

Amicompletelyinsane · 22/08/2021 17:13

Oh yeah. Corded shark mine is

TheSockMonster · 22/08/2021 17:36

What’s the suction like on it @Amicompletelyinsane ?

OhDearWhyAmIFatterly · 22/08/2021 19:26

Thanks again, looks like the miele are all out of stock everywhere!

Quick update....
I got the Miele C3, and I LOVE IT!!!!!
It's amazing, I had to clean the rush head after each room as it was so full of fluff and hair! Just showed how crap my dyson had been!!

Mieles are fantastic!

OP allergy UK website is your friend. All the items there are approved, lots of vaccum cleaners claim they eliminate allergies but few are any good at it.

Make sure you wet wipe (not dry wipe) surfaces.
Put all cuddly toys in the freezer for 24 hours to kill any dust mite.

There's other items as well.

We use the Miele vaccum cleaner.

Sorry didn't read the update.

But still this website is excellent.
