Self walking trip - Lake District

My husband and I have scored 4 days child free in Oct. we'd like to do a walking tour staying in hotels b&bs.

I've googled and it leads us to tour companies. I'd prefer to do it informally as I'm cheap but would consider a tour if it's worth it and recommended.

We need to start and leave in one place preferably south lakes and we could wild camp one night but I'd prefer a proper bed each night. We're fit and reasonable walkers but would prefer 10 miles ish each day so it's fun and not too much of a challenge.

Maybe join Facebook page 'I love the Lake District' or 'Lets walk the lakes'. You will get lots of advice there.

Anyone else done something similar?
