Hi all, I went for my glucose fasting blood test 6 weeks after birth to check that my GD had gone. I have changed doctors so I was given a form with different things they wanted to check my bloods for they said to go for them whenever, I noticed that the hbac1 was on there which I read I should have at 12-13 weeks pp to check blood sugar levels after GD. I asked if I could have the 6 week glucose fasting test instead and the doctor crossed that box but they also took my readings for hbac1 at 6 weeks. The nurse called and said that my fasting glucose and hbac1 levels were ok but that my cholesterol and ALT (liver enzymes) were high. I had an emergency c section and read that after a c section you shouldn’t check cholesterol readings until 3 months after birth because cholesterol will be needed to repair cell membranes and heal surgical wounds so the results may not be reliable. I am now thinking that the link between cholesterol and ALT it says after infection or tablets can cause alt to rise. I did take ibeprofin and paracetamol for several weeks after the c section and I had a urine infection. The nurse said my hbac1 was ok but I think it did seem a bit higher than I would have liked but then it would have been an average of last 12 weeks including the 6 weeks when still pregnant with GD. The nurse said due to having only had baby 6 weeks ago via c section this could be reason cholesterol and alt high so she said to retest everything once 12 weeks pp. As hbac1 was still an ok level I’m hoping once 12 weeks pp will be lower. I was worried about blood sugar level but am anxious now cholesterol and alt high. I’m hoping like the hbac1 wasn’t meant to be tested til 12 weeks pp neither was alt or cholesterol and once am body will have settled down from c section and levels will be ok. Wish doctor had said not to test until 12 weeks as now feeling very stressed out about it all when could just be shouldn’t have tested those things til 12 week pp as it’s body still settling down from c section. Has anyone had similar experiences? Or any advice much appreciated. Thanks in advance! :)
