Awful metallic taste - not pregnant

I've had this awful metallic taste in my mouth for a few days. I've done two separate pregnancy tests and a lateral flow test, all negative. I have smell and taste but it always returns.

I have a cold and I'm recovering from a chest infection- could that have anything to do with it?

I had "pregnancy" symptoms including the taste thing when I had an ovarian cyst. Have you had any weird pains or other symptoms?

Are you taking any other meds, Zopiclone for example is well known for making you think you’ve woken up sucking an iron gate.

I think you should have a pcr test, lateral flows are notoriously unreliable.

I got this when I ate dodgy pine nuts in pesto.

Just came to ask if you've eaten pine nuts but someone beat me to it. It's a thing!

Hi I've had that recently too - about a week after eating a sandwich containing pine nuts. It's a shame as I love them but shall avoid now.

Could it be tonsil stones? I get these after colds.

No pine nuts, and I can't see any tonsil stones. Covid is very unlikely as I've had very little contact with anyone having been inside for the last few weeks with a chest infection. No other new meds, and it started long after the antibiotics finished. No other pain or symptoms, just a recurrant cough from the previous infection (had a negative pcr test with that).

It's much worse when I cough but no noticeable blood in the phlegm.

I had a chest infection recently and had the same thing it was a side effect of the antibiotics.

First time I've ever had taste changes with a cold (only had it twice before, first was brain damage and second I think was covid). Its horrible! Hoping it will go with the cold.
