Ok I'm sure this will have been discussed before now, but I feel it needs to be addressed once more.

Stop calling your HOLIDAY a staycation.

I cannot bear the word! It's up there with #makingmemories and Chester Draws for me.

So just stop it now, ok?

You need to look up the dictionary definition of “staycation”. People are using a legitimate word correctly.

Maybe you need a staycation yourself.

I agree OP. It most certainly is a holiday. We don't even use the word 'vacation' in the UK, so it's nonsense.

Never! If I take a staycation I may become lighthearted and happy. Can't have that.

Staycation is a recent invention which was coined to mean taking time off work and staying in your own house. Having a holiday in the U.K. is and always has been just having a holiday.

It would make sense if we said "vacation" but we don't, we say holiday

Staycation is embarrassing

Such a silly word. You're on holiday whether abroad or in the UK.
