Weird WhatsApp Messages

Got a message yesterday “Hi, my name’s Jessica. Nice to meet you”

I ignored it, thinking it must be a mistake. Then a few hours later got another one “I’m still waiting for your reply - can you reply to me if you see it?”

It’s not a big issue in the scheme of things, just wondering if anyone else has received random messages like this from strangers on WhatsApp? The phone number doesn’t look like a mobile number.

It will be a scammer.

Block them. It's either a wrong number, which they'll find out in the fullness of time, or it's a scammer & blocking is the only way.

I literally just got the same message! Word for word. And the follow up on about 5 mins later. I just reported and blocked.

Google the country code. I just had one, it originates from Kenya.

Super weird.
Don't think i've ever had a random message me on whatsapp.

I got one from Hong Kong with the same message last week. Not had one on What's app before.

I've seen a few people saying they go this not long after ordering that £3.99 airfryer from Amazon. Don't know what info is passed over from Amazon to the seller so it might just be a coincidence.

I can’t Google the number now as I’ve blocked it and it’s gone from the list.

This happened to me and my sister a day apart! She got a random whatsapp with a photo of loads of cash in a car saying ‘on my way with the Fanta’ so she was like how random, must be a wrong number bla bla bla.
Then literally the next day I got the exact same message with the same photo! Must have been a scam so we both blocked!

+254 is Kenya, so unless you know someone there it's a scam. Good to hear you've blocked them already.

I got one this week saying that they had dispatched my parcel and could I let them know when I had received it. I blocked and deleted.

I got one today but it was claiming to be someone from the HR department of ebay wanting to recruit me.

I got one of these and put the area code in google and it's from Kenya

My message just said 'Hello how are you'

I got a really similar one yesterday, first time I’ve ever had spam on Whatsapp in 10 years of using it

Funnily enough I had one from somebody called Jessica, she said is this Kane I just said wrong number and she said sorry hope I’m not interrupting as if looking to chat..thought scammer and blocked it. Did it have a profile picture of the sea with a woman with her back to the photo

This was number I had it from
