Help Me Choose My Camera!

I've narrowed it down to the Nikon D3500 or the D5300. Either would be second hand nearly-new, from a reputable dealer.

I'm an experienced beginner, and I'll mostly be shooting family, landscapes and a bit of macro stuff.

One thing that I'm keen on is being able to download images easily.

Last night I definitely decided that I should go with the D5300, this morning it's the D3500.

I'll be getting an 19 - 55 mm lens to start with, and building my kit over the next couple of years, I imagine.

I REALLY want to order it this weekend after faffing round researching for months. Anyone got any advice?

Thanks!

My husband is a professional photographer and this is what he said:

"Both are good beginner cameras. But if you're taking photos of family such as portrait shots, the easiest and cheapest upgrade would be to purchase the Nikon 50mm 1.8 lens. The lens iOS what would make the difference more than the body."

Thanks so much elp30 (and Mr Elp!). The 50 mm is literally the first lens on my wishlist if I manage to get the body for a good price!! That's really great to hear.

Can I be cheeky and ask Mr Elp if he'd recommend pushing up to the D5500? One of the dealers has just emailed with a 'good' condition one and low shutter count of 2500. I'd decided against that one as I couldn't find one within my budget.

Thanks again.
