Have to admit ignorance of this but for under twos it's nasty

My newborn DD caught this. She was 10 days old, had been born 3 weeks early and was tiny. We'd just got her home and ended up going straight back into intensive care....... she had to be ventilated, tube fed and went from 6lb 2ozs to 5 lbs 1ozs. It was absolutely horrifying and I've never been so scared in my entire life when she went blue. She was so exhausted from feeding that she had to be fed every 2 hours and it took nearly a month to get her back to her birthweight.

I think it is common for most people to not know about RSV season unless they've experienced the had side.
DD gave Ds RSV when he was 2 months old. She was a bit snotty for a week, he spent a few nights in hospital with bronchiolitis.
There's a good video on this webpage showing intercostal recession which is anything to watch for

Yep DS caught this when he was 2.5 months old. It was truly awful. Rushed to hospital,
On oxygen for a week (over Christmas) and we were told he probably would’ve stopped breathing if hadn’t gone in Sad

The scary thing was he didn’t seem that ill the evening we called 111 in many ways - he’d had a cold/cough but GP had seen him the day before and said his chest sounded ok. It was my mum that said his breathing seemed a bit too fast and when we looked closer his ribs were ‘sucking in’- but he seemed quite happy in himself, still trying to smile through it bless him. It certainly wasn’t obvious that he wasn’t getting enough oxygen.
