Self Care - What do you do?

Now my daughter is 6 I’m finding I suddenly have some time to myself! I’ve fallen behind big time on self-care, my body has basically left fallow.

Pre child I would have had a regular hair trim (I last had my hair cut 2 years ago), threaded and tinted eyebrows, tinted lashes every 6 weeks. I would have shaved my legs every other day. I always read a few chapters of a novel every night. Gym 5 days a week. Lie ins. Regular socialising, days out, cinema, shopping trips etc etc.

I now do virtually none of the above. Unless you count going to Aldi every 2 weeks as a day out.

My dog just jumped up onto me and covered my face in drool, which is the closest I’ve got to a facial in 6 years!!

I work full time but within school hours. My daughter is so chilled now (never thought I’d ever be saying that!) I have a bit of time back to focus on me. Each evening I have about an hour. I want to to reintroduce some self care back into my life into that hour. I’m even thinking bc about writing up a rota…..!

I’ve also booked 1 random day off work each month when my DD is at school for something like a hair cut, or maybe a shopping trip with cafe stops, if maybe just doing NOTHING!

What do you do for self care? How do you stick to your self care plans? I need to keep the cost low really. or DIY (like I can dye my own eyebrows).

I think if time is short for self care then focus on what really matters.
Exercise, rest, nutrition, looking after mental health.
All the rest is fluff.
If you exercise and keep fit then all the othe stuff can be fixed in a jiff.

Exercise! It does wonders for the mind and body. A face mask, paint & shape your nails, read a book. Wax/shave, moisturise whatever makes you feel good about yourself.
Listen to a podcast, grab a coffee and cake in a coffee shop.
You deserve some ‘you’ time. Enjoy it x

Go for a powerwalk/run around local park or streets
Long bath then lie with my dressing gown on after with a face mask on for 15mins
I read my kindle at bedtime when kids are already asleep
Follow a yoga class on my bedroom floor with yoga by adirenne
