What are your plans this Saturday morning?

Just that really. Looking for inspiration. No plans for tomorrow until 2pm and don't want another Saturday morning to roll by with boring housework, shopping type chores whilst kids are glued to screens. Weather not looking great but might get out for a country walk with the kids but open to new ideas. What are you all planning to do?

@Gertie75

Saturday mornings are for sleeping as long as possible. Weather's looking rubbish so will probably have a pj and film session with the kids.
I kept reading until I found someone else who was planning on watching TV Grin

It’s 30 degrees where we are tomorrow, so heading to the beach early with toddler Dd, treat breakfast of donuts off the beach donut guy 🤣 home for lunch, I need to clean all upstairs, did downstairs today, that will take an hour or two 😩
Hopefully Dd will nap, if so we’ll go to the playground in the evening until sunset and maybe have some dinner at the beach. If she doesn’t nap, maybe take our dog for a walk and bbq in the garden & earlier night for Dd

Greyrootszerohoots · 20/08/2021 22:26

I can’t believe how many people park run!

I’m meeting a friend for brunch then will be trying to amuse a toddler for the rest of why looks like a rainy day…ideas welcome!

AnnaSW1 · 20/08/2021 23:11

@Hellocatshome yes! The bank of mum! 😀

ParentingDilemmas · 20/08/2021 23:14

Need to nip into town for a few bits but only if it’s not pouring down, probably grab a tea and cake with DC too. That’s as exciting as it’ll get.

KilledByWitches · 20/08/2021 23:20

Alexa tells me I can expect 20mm of rain and severe thunderstorms tomorrow, so my plans mostly involve my pajamas and the telly.

Where are you?

I've lived in places like that, now I'm in the U.K. again, you're making me want to move again!

vodkaredbullgirl · 20/08/2021 23:30

Recovering from tonight 😃

butterry · 20/08/2021 23:34

Finish clearing out house to go to the skip in the morning. Browse the monthly farmers market, leisurely brunch. Woodland walk. Roast dinner at riverside pub.

Umbongoumbongo999 · 20/08/2021 23:40

I love Puy De Fou! The bird displays are amazing.

I will be doing w2 of C25K. But first drinking coffee in bed. Also sorting out ds' student bank account. Maybe make eggs for breakfast. Do my admin, read a bit. I don't expect to see my teens before 11

Kidsdontknowwhatswrongwithmum · 20/08/2021 23:40

@AlmostSummer21 A Southern European country, where were you?

HopingForOurRainbowBaby · 21/08/2021 00:12

An hour an half at work in the morning, then home, quick coffee bit of breakfast and back to bed for a few hours. I've loads of housework and washing that needs doing so I'll get some of that done. Then once I've sorted the kitchen out I'll be baking our Baby's 2nd birthday cake ready to frost and decorate on Sunday. Our Baby isn't with us but I still like to bake them a cake and have my own little celebration. Then back to work for 5 hours. Might buy a bottle of wine for when I finish work too

Various places, but you post reminded me most of when I lived in Valencia guaranteed beautiful weather, early morning walk or cycle along the beach front, coffee at one of the beach cafes...market/playground, lunch at a cafe along the beach....

Tomorrow here...greyness, no beach, no lovely cafes...

Kidsdontknowwhatswrongwithmum · 21/08/2021 00:56

@AlmostSummer21 I consider moving back sometimes, would you say don’t 🙈

Bunnycat101 · 21/08/2021 07:31

My toddler spent the night vomiting so we’re spending the morning on vom-watch and working out how to change our plans as we were meant to be doing a lot this weekend. My children have a habit of getting sick when we have plans.

Damnyoureyes · 21/08/2021 07:36

Having a couple of new windows fitted!
House is an absolute shit hole as I’m in the middle of having a new bathroom too.
My house is teeny tiny and so of course, every room is affected and there’s shit everywhere!

Trying to do a huge clearing out session and tip run once window fella has finished.

I’m gonna be posh dear mumsnetters, posh indeed with ma fancy pants none leaking windows and shiny new bathroom!! Smile

I’ve got an appointment in a bit about ankle ligament reconstruction, I was given the option of doing it online so thats quite handy, if I had to go in it would take most of the day.

When thats done I’m hopefully going to finish some bits on our holiday home, the kitchen is now all in and wasn’t as awkward as I thought it would be. The toilet was a pain in the arse though as the floors aren’t level (original slabs) so I did have to admit defeat and get help with that. Everywhere is very dusty, so if I get it cleaned properly today we can get the mattresses in and actually sleep in it tonight. I’ve been sleeping in our camper for the last week, so a proper bed and a bath would be lovely.

We have someone staying in it over the bank holiday weekend, mainly so they can point out the good bits and the things that need changing/tweaking.

H1978 · 21/08/2021 08:49

Currently in Edinburgh on staycation. Booked into the dungeons for 11.00am then after lunch we are visiting some bookshops dd1 wants to go to. She’s an avid reader. Not sure after that but need to make the most of it as we’re going home tomorrow.

HollysBush · 21/08/2021 08:54

Housework this am as friends round for tea and cake later. Bins out, Hoover all over, bit of dusting, quick food shop. Walk dog.
Was planning to sit the children out in garden on a picnic blanket but looks like rain.

LordFoofingtonismyMaster · 21/08/2021 09:07

Bringing dc2 swimming shortly for lessons. She is convinced she's going to be tried out for the next level up today or next Saturday so she is very excited. I'm in two minds as to whether she's ready and trying to manage expectations whilst being encouraging.... then we have to go to the ballet shop to exchange the things I ordered online to make my life easier that arrived too small. After that who knows?! It's absolutely lashing here where I am. Part of me would love to do nothing but another part feels a bit antsy. Need to boot a teenager out of bed now.....pray for me 🙏🏼

Mydogisagentleman · 21/08/2021 09:17

Going to a funeral, then home, collect the food and off to Pride in the park.
Not sure how it’s going to be as it’s as black as black can be and rain is on its way.
Dog has been walked and still waiting to hear from DD who went up to Nottingham for a gig and was due to get the train about an hour ago.
She’s got a hot date tonight

MinnieMountain · 21/08/2021 09:55

I’ve been for a walk with a friend.
When I get back DH is going for a bike ride with friends.
DS and I will go to a local fun day once I can drag him out.
We’ll have fish and chips for supper.

wasthataburp · 21/08/2021 09:56

@Moonwatcher1234

Park run is popular…do you think a 4 year old would enjoy it? I’m taking the kids to see Peter rabbit 2
There are junior park runs for ages 4+
Auntienumber8 · 21/08/2021 10:06

DH is taking DS and his GF for their second vaccine. He is carpet cleaning the hallways and sitting room and changing water in the fish tank. I’m painting the front doorstep and doing laundry.

Then tonight we will watch a film and probably doze off on the sofa like the old farts we are. I’m also going to look for a garden ornament online.

@Kidsdontknowwhatswrongwithmum

Today, yes!!

I do love it here and having reacently had an accident have been very grateful to have the familiar around me (and English speaking hospital staff as my Spanish in particular is non existent, but then if I hadn't been here, I wouldn't have had the accudent LOL)

It depends on so much - jobs/housing/schools (if applicable) family etc

But I do very much miss the climate in Valencia, walking//cycling to get places as well as for fun (it's not the same where I live here) and walking into the old town to just to be in the old town with the beautiful architecture and both locals/visitors etc.

Obviously Covid is an issue in both places.

My life has changed a lot since I lived there, so it's a bit of both time & place.

But I'd certainly think very carefully about what you'd be giving up/gaining making the move. It's easy to overlook some of what you're giving up when it's so your normal!
