What are your plans this Saturday morning?

Just that really. Looking for inspiration. No plans for tomorrow until 2pm and don't want another Saturday morning to roll by with boring housework, shopping type chores whilst kids are glued to screens. Weather not looking great but might get out for a country walk with the kids but open to new ideas. What are you all planning to do?

Walk the dog, do a spin class at home, nip to the shop for some milk, back home and hairdresser is popping round to do me a blow dry then get ready to head out to bottomless brunch!

UnicornMadeOfPinkGlitter · 20/08/2021 20:05

My first morning at new part time job. Not completely new as been working there for three years but due to health issues having to start a new role. So straight in the deep end. Checkouts at a supermarket on a Saturday morning. Please let all the customers be nice.

Wow so many doing park run! I can't wait for 3yo Ds to turn 4 so we can go too!

Tomorrow morning is swimming lessons. Boring.

Moonwatcher1234 · 20/08/2021 20:09

Park run is popular…do you think a 4 year old would enjoy it? I’m taking the kids to see Peter rabbit 2

Cornishmumofone · 20/08/2021 20:23

My 4 year old run/walks part of parkrun and then goes in the running buggy for the rest. She's been quite unwell and isn't able to walk 5km at the moment. She enjoys going as she gets a lot of attention.

Personally, I think 5k is too far for a 4yo. Not too far for them to cover in their own time, buy to far to have to keep going on a defined course without stopping to pick up sticks etc. I see lots of small children being dragged and cajoled round the course by stressed parents. They do seem to like volunteering and cheering runners on though.

Our course is 3 laps so it's always an option to set out to do one and see how you get on.

parkrun is about so much more than the running. When my DC were small, DH would marshall with DC while I ran, then I'd go in the play park with them until his duty was finished, then the cafe for icecream/coffee with friends.

Over the years parkrun has been a huge part of our family memories. DS2 had a spell of writing jokes for the newsletter, we've all done numerous volunteering roles, it played a part in DS1's Duke of Edinburgh award, there's a fantastic picture on "mums and sons day" of me and DS2 soaked to the skin whilst tail walking together, DS1 used it as training for his Army entrance tests and found some great traing partners there and when DH died, park runners were a big part of his funeral and formed a guard of honour. People I met thŕough parkrun have been among the most supportive to me since he died too.

I'm definitely a bit obsessive about it, but it truly is a thing of wonder to my mind.

mummysquasher · 20/08/2021 20:34

I'm training for a half marathon so I'm running the long way to parkrun, doing parkrun, running home Smile

drspouse · 20/08/2021 20:35

I think the kids' park run is shorter.

TheLovelinessOfDemons · 20/08/2021 20:37

Sleep until 8 as I really need to catch up, breakfast, chill until lunchtime. Summer school and DD 13 not going to bed until 1 have nearly killed me.

Gertie75 · 20/08/2021 20:38

Saturday mornings are for sleeping as long as possible.
Weather's looking rubbish so will probably have a pj and film session with the kids.

StarttoFinish · 20/08/2021 20:39

@drspouse

It is (2km) but it's on Sunday and there's no minimum age, although under 4s must run with an adult.
icedcoffees · 20/08/2021 20:39

It's my first day of annual leave, so I plan to sleep as late as possible, have breakfast in bread (croissants with jam and several cups of coffee) and just enjoy a day off.

But we have no DC to worry about, it's DH's turn to walk the dog and it's supposed to piss it down all day long Grin

Happyface120 · 20/08/2021 20:40

First Welsh parkrun since the pandemic started! Am so bloody excited! Running as a family with 7 and 10 year olds- both have been taking part since they were 5 :)

Hellocatshome · 20/08/2021 20:41

Taking DS1 to his football tournament, it will be the afternoon before we are back. Then handing DS1 and 2 to the in laws and probably doing something boring like housework.

Waxonwaxoff0 · 20/08/2021 20:42

Isolating as I have Covid. Not very helpful I know! If I wasn't I'd be taking DS for a walk along the canal and maybe stop for a pub lunch.

RosieLemonadeAndSugar · 20/08/2021 20:47

I'm getting married so I'll be getting ready Sunday morning Grin

RosieLemonadeAndSugar · 20/08/2021 20:47

*saturday Blush it's been a long week!!

FlorencenotRatchet · 20/08/2021 20:49

Another Parkrunner here Smile

Greenbuttonsbluebuttons · 20/08/2021 20:49

Work. As I do every weekend.Sad

Durbeyfield · 20/08/2021 20:50

I’m going for a run. Later I’ll watch some TV drama on iPlayer and cook myself something. Might go out for a coffee.

TigerDroveAgain · 20/08/2021 20:52

Driving for 3.5 hours; having a pub lunch; going to a football match; driving 3.5 hours home.

I CAN’T WAIT!Grin

Bigtom · 20/08/2021 20:55

Parkrun here too! Husband and daughter volunteering. Brekkie after with friends.

There’s no way my 8 year old would run Parkrun, she won’t even do the kids 2k version. Usually she does dancing on Saturday mornings and we take it in turns to run / take her to dance class.

Iminaglasscaseofemotion · 20/08/2021 20:55

Up early with the baby. Bought tiger loaf and bacon for bacon sandwhich, bit forgot butter 🙄. Going to the hairdressers to vet my hair colour completely changed so that's going to take hours apparently. My mum is watching the kids so she will probablytalk my ears off for a couple of hours when I get back. Then dp works nightshift so I'll do what I do every night. Dinner, housework, get the baby to sleep, and watch Schitts creek. Almost finished it though so not sure what to watch next.
The older kids pretty much do their own thing at the weekend. Just come to me when they need food or money. Their not interested in going out places anymore, just want to play with their friends. It's quite sad.
