I really can’t envision is

How high must her oven be in order to do this?

Poor woman though. RIP

It says she fell over. Poor thing. RIP.

PlanDeRaccordement · 20/08/2021 14:40

Poor woman. Not sure what is confusing? She had already made the bacon sandwich, so the accident did not happen “whilst cooking bacon.” She probably slipped in kitchen and knocked her head or fainted but as she fell her PJ top caught on the lower door handle and so slowly strangled her while she was unconscious. Her body weight would have done it.

Similar to how people can slip in the shower, knock themselves unconscious and then drown.

Soubriquet · 20/08/2021 14:42

Ah that makes more sense. I hadn’t considered she had knocked herself out

What a tragic accident though

Yes it’s very sad. I also feel for her DS who found her. He must have been in agony about what if he’d woken up sooner or not fallen asleep, maybe he could have heard her fall and saved her. The whole family must be suffering. RIP.

Galassia · 20/08/2021 14:49

It’s on a par with the woman who slipped and fell holding a glass with a metal straw that pierced her eye and her brain and died and the man who suffocated when he became trapped in his clothes airer!

Awful and bizarre ways to die.

Soubriquet · 20/08/2021 14:50

Christ that’s brutal..

Almost like Fate intervened and cut those golden threads

Not sure what is confusing

Well the coroner, whos actual job is determine cause of death, said "‘I can’t explain how she ended up in this position it’s a very unusual case. In my 20 years of doing this I have never come across this happening"...so of course it can be described as confusing. Unless you know more than the coroner who has all the details of the case?

Yes that’s exactly what is confusing. Not sure how you aren’t understanding why it’s confusing. You’re guessing what you think happened but the medical professional who examined her doesn’t even know. If she had hit her head there would have been mention of that.

In the 1970s we moved to a house and my bathroom didn’t have an electric shower but a tall spike that could divert the water from the taps to a shower hose.

I sipped and fell backwards and thankfully missed the spike but was concerned that the spike has narrowly missed going up my bottom and injuring/killing me so I told my father who had the unit replaced ASAP.

Now thats dangerous

A friend of mine has a lovely injury to the back of her neck at the moment

She managed to fall over and smash her head/neck on a large glass vase.

Luckily she had a dog collar type chocker on which managed to protect most of her neck, but it still did some significant damage

How awful. That poor woman.

Bizarre cases - like the one of the woman who was strangled by her garage door opening

Galassia · 20/08/2021 15:40

If you have a morbid fascination with bizarre deaths here is some from yesteryear

There used to be a programme call bizarre and unsual deaths on one of the sky channels, sadly these things do happen.

Whatever, the coroner can’t say exactly how because there at least two options- fainting or slipping as to how she could have ended up in that position. In both, she hit her head, so that’s no determiner.

That doesn’t mean the coroner was confused. The coroner was certain enough it was an accidental death which indicates a high degree of not being confused.

I think we can go on what the coroner actually said in his own words, rather than what you think he meant or what you think he thinks.

You don't know the actual details of the case and you don't know exactly what happened.

labazslovesliving · 20/08/2021 18:00

same page lady who died trapped in an airing cupboard awful

CovidCorvid · 20/08/2021 18:10

I remember a case of a lady who slipped and fell into a knife which was in the dishwasher….I’ve always put my knives blade down since then. She died sadly.

Yes I agree we should go on coroners actual words and the coroner never said he was confused.

“but coroner James Adeley described it as ‘extraordinarily bad luck’.
He said: ‘It is very unusual that someone who was fit and well managed to suspend themselves accidentally from the oven door. What appears to have happened is that for some reason she has fallen and caught her pyjama top on the lower handle of the oven door. I can’t explain how she ended up in this position it’s a very unusual case. In my 20 years of doing this I have never come across this happening.’”

So yes to unusual. Yes to can’t explain how. Yes to accident.

No to fecking confused.
