Going to the Proms tonight - dress code

Is there any required dress code or expected clothing code for women?

I’m sort of assuming that because it’s the Proms and not the opera or anything - and because the Proms are designed to bring classical music to the masses etc - anything goes.

This will be my first time at the Prims!

Indeed! Some people will be smart, especially if in boxes, others will just be in jeans etc. A full ballgown might stand out a bit ;-) No specific code or requirements.

Thank you - I’m in the Stalls

Depends on where you're sitting really. Most people don't "dress".

I've not been for years so it might be better, but I remember, on my first visit, being a bit disappointed as it was a bit shabby. Nowhere near as posh as it looks on TV.

No dress code. During the week, you got some people going after work, so in suits etc, but maybe less likely this year. Most people are smart casual, like the theatre.

Thank you - I’ll dress comfortable (and remember my covid vaccination certificate!)

Don't forget your face covering, and hope you enjoy it. Royal Albert Hall is a lovely venue.

Thank you - it’s Mozart’s Requiem

Oh - lucky! Went to that at the Proms a few years ago - it is an amazing piece of music to hear performed live. Hope you are enjoying yourself!

It was lovely - including the bonus first half of music by Mozart’s contemporaries. A few people (women) - not many - were very dressed up but most people were in regular ‘civilian’ clothes. So my dressing for comfort was fine!
