Should I take my children on holiday?

DC are due to be going on holilday with Exh next week, nothing booked but loose plans for a couple of overnight stays and days out.

Exh has injured himself pretty badly and it is unlikely that he will be well enough to travel.

I have booked Weds/Thurs/Fri off work with vague plans to take me and the dog off camping somewhere.

DC and I went camping earlier in the year.

They will be so disappointed to not go on hols with their dad and his partner.

For context- I get on really well with my ex and his girlfriend, I'm gutted for them all that this has happened. I was really looking forward to a rare solo break- but feel sad for my dc and also worried that they will have a particularly miserable week with their dads injury meaning they won't be doing anything fun at all. (no fault of exh of course).

I won't be able to get any more time off work until at least October and camping will be a no-no then!

Should I take them away for a couple of days somewhere?

Yes definitely!

I would consult your ex firstly to see if he is on board with this, and then approach your children if ex says yes.
They may want time together regardless

A couple of nights in London perhaps? (we are country dwellers!) Would be so exciting for them :)

Yes of course, would definitely talk to ex about this all, have already text him to let him know that if he thinks he will struggle then they can just remain here and we will work it all out.

Well everything has just been scuppered as DC1 has just tested positive for covid whilst at exh's. No holiday for them! :(
