When did your child stop having milk?

DD turns 3 soon, she hasn't shown much of an interest in milk in the evenings so I've started giving her a light meal.. She has milk in her cereal and in a cup for breakfast.. Is it OK to drop the evening milk now she's nearly 3? My friends kids had milk till they were 7!! Just wondering if its OK to drop milk in take in the evening at this age. She gets her calcium source from morning milk, cheese, yoghurt.. Etc. Was just worrying about the drop in milk.

It's fine to do whatever works best for you. My first had a cup of milk before bed until she was 4. Second one was bf, but had a cup of milk for a few months when I was weaning, but then had no interest after about 15 months.

My youngest started refusing milk when she turned one. She would have a small bottle of milk before bed but stopped bf completely, I was quite worried at the time but the hv said it was fine and I shouldn't make sure she got lots of calcium rich foods.

DD is 2 and three quarters. She has a cup twice a day with a snack but she also eats a lot of yoghurt, cheese, etc. so I wouldn't be that bothered if she stopped drinking one of them, personally.

DS1 breastfed until he was three but after that never liked cows milk as a drink. He is 5 now and will have it in cereal, or the occasional hot chocolate or milkshake (but tbh he leaves the drink after a few sips - I think he just likes the idea).

In DHs East Asian culture people don't really drink milk past toddler hood so I figured he's probably inherited the not liking milk thing from DH.

DD1 is 4 and still asks for milk first thing in the morning and just before bed. She loves it and would drink it all day if allowed. I’ll probably stop when she doesn’t ask for it anymore as she’s very slim so the extra fat does her some good.

If she’s getting calcium from other sources and doesn’t want milk then I’d leave it. Maybe try something like weetabix in the evening so she can have milk in it?

She was eating cereal in the evening but was having 3 bowls so I thought I should give her a light dinner instead..

I was giving her cereal and weetabix in the evenings but she ended up having 3 bowls so I switched to a light dinner which she is now really enjoying.

When they stopped BF at 2.

There are nutrients within milk but humans are very inefficient at using them. They’ve had oat milk since then (though never by the cupful).

I’m sure it’s partly marketing.
