I assume that they are melatonin gummies. I’d say half a gummy, and the other half if he’s still not sleepy 40 mins later.

Take around the time he starts to get ready for bed, assuming it takes him 20 mins or so to change, brush teeth, put on moisturiser etc.

So host family gave him 2 last night...10mg each he took them both...he didnt know!!!!!

no wonder he woke up feeling sick and groggy this morning!!

He's got these now 3mg each and say 2 x for adults at bedtime.

He's 16 so think 2 will be ok ... 6mg in total?????

Maybe just try one. I took 3 x 3g recently and felt so dopey the next day.

He could try one and then if he can’t sleep take another one.

He took the 2 and slept 10.30pm woke 6.30am...said he will snooze abit more.

First proper sleep since last Sunday bless him.

He starts school out there Monday then sports training and games so will naturally fall to sleep soon

I take 10mg occasionally and it's fine. It's only a hormone.

Hardchoices · 20/08/2021 18:27

Are you not angry that a family he is staying with have given him medicine without your permission and have clearly done it in a dangerous fashion???

It's prescription medicine here, it's an on-the-shelf supplement there (I'm assuming the USA, but lots of places are the same). I would have gone with a lower dose to start with, but they haven't been giving him opioids or anything dreadful. I don't know why melatonin is prescription only here, it's quite mild and incredibly useful for short term sleep adjustment issues.

I'm assuming this is the US, they are really common here. My 2 year old niece once managed to prise open the lid and ate at least 7 in one go. Poison control assured my sister they were harmless even in large doses and she was fine.
