Ebay problem

I bought an item on ebay 2 weeks ago. It hasn't arrived and i was just thinking of contacting the seller when he messaged me to ask when I was going to pay. I have definitely paid and also he had marked it as dispatched which I don't think you can do that if not paid? I've taken out a dispute with eBay but my question is why would he say that? Has anyone ever experienced this? I mean it's so obvious paid (paypal shows payment) that I can't imagine he's going to win this. It's not even a lot of money (£40).

Did you tell him you'd paid? He's probably mixed you up with another buyer OP.

I have no idea, but there is also an ebay forum which might also provide some answer, if you don't get one on here. Best of luck.

Yes I told him I'd paid. He sounded a bit stroppy after that and demanded I contact PayPal. I do believe he doesn't think he has the money but no idea how it wouldn't have gone to him.

Demand that HE contact PayPal. You have paid. That's your job done. I would personally just start a dispute now because he's stroppy.

You might have paid via PayPal but eBay has recently introduced a system where they are in control of sellers money and pass it on to the sellers account periodically. IE The seller doesn’t get the funds from PayPal anymore. It may be there’s been a cock up that’s not of the sellers doing.

You're probably right but I was thinking if he hasn't got a payment then I would be best to do it from my side. Oh well, it'll all come out in the wash. I'm just a bit worried he's a scammer but it doesn't make any sense as I've obviously paid. And he marked it as dispatched, which I asked him about but his reply didn't even make sense 🙄

Always raise a case with eBay

KitKatKong · 19/08/2021 23:06

I've bought and sold on EBay for years now but over the past couple of months have had to raise claims as sellers have not actually sent!me what I have paid for. I think there are a lot of new sellers essentially seeing what they can get away with. It's making me want to stop using EBay.

This happened to me, I paid for an item as soon as the auction finished. PayPal held the funds for 21 days because the seller hadn’t sold many items. I sent the seller a picture of my receipt and this article www.paypal.com/lu/smarthelp/article/why-is-my-payment-from-a-sale-on-ebay-not-available-immediately-faq3288

eBay will release the funds to him when you’ve left feedback.
