I have a child free day... What should I do?

I've got my first child free day in 14 months this week as I'm on annual leave and my toddler will be in nursery (well 2 days actually).

I know in the grand scheme this is a ridiculous problem but I haven't got a clue what to do with the time. I don't really know what I like doing anymore so any suggestions are greatly welcome.

My friend's and husband are working so it's just me. Any ideas?

Long walk in the morning. Take a book and go somewhere nice for lunch (if you're happy to style it out - I hated it the first time, but used to it now). Get home and spend the afternoon either crafting while watching a box set or playing my digital piano badly but without earphones as there's nobody there to hear.

Absolutely no housework. And if DH can do the nursery drop off, I'd add in a lie-in as well, maybe followed by a long bath and some pampering.

Stay in bed all day and deliveroo every single meal.

I had a child free day last week and my
plan was to go the the cinema. I used to go myself all the time so I was really looking forward too it.
Sadly my toddler gave me a tummy bug that day so i was unable to go!
Thanks to shift work I have another child free day next week so i will go then. :)

How about going for a massage, facial or some kind of pampering treatment?

Lunch
Shopping (for yourself if you enjoy it?)

Ahhh I had one of these recently. Long walk, yoga when I got back, nice shower with a salt scrub, into town and went to Waterstones to buy myself a book, then sat in a cafe with a toastie and a coffee.

Then home and read my new book for two actual hours.

I was so sad when it ended!

@BookShark that sounds like a wonderful day. I do love crafting too, might have to incorporate that.

@iusedtoloveopalfruits1oh no that's so unfortunate! Hope you're feeling better now? What are you going to watch? I'm not sure if I'm brave enough for the cinema on my own, is that a bit pathetic of me?

@RosieLeaLovesTea a massage had crossed my mind as I was posting. Think I might book one once I've worked out the rest of my plans. Im terrible at shopping for me, good at it for others though so maybe I could buy gifts for people.

@JohnnyMcGrathSaysFuckOff you should book another you day soon to finish the book :) I've got a few books I've been meaning to start so this is actually a really good idea. Just need to hope the weather plays nicely so I can read outside.

Cinema is the ideal place to go on your own - nobody to see you! Honestly, it all feels so awkward the first time, but you do get used to it, and it's so lovely to have time to do stuff just for you.

DD is 12 and I still take the odd day when she's at school/staying with grandparents. Sometimes it's just nice to be totally selfish.

Lie in.
Book and a fancy coffee out.
Browse the shops.

Or a day in.
Shower, new Jamas, pizza for whenever
Box set
Possibly wine?

I would stay in bed until lunchtime, then eat my favourite foods before spending the afternoon reading in the garden.

Tangledtresses · 19/08/2021 23:13

Pjs all day ... wine and a takeaway

Literally don't do anything 👍🏻😀

nancybotwinbloom · 24/08/2021 19:35

Cluelessgardener · 24/08/2021 20:00

@nancybotwinbloom it's tomorrow and Thurs and I still don't really know. Gonna wing it 😬
