Help with outfit for dinner out

Gah - I'm terrible at 'dressing up' to go out. Have been unusually organised & booked a lovely restaurant for the Sat near DPs birthday in a few weeks time (it gets booked up well in advance), and could use suggestions for what to wear... please help me & post ideas/suggestions.

I'm 45, reasonable figure, could stand to lose a stone but I'm not huge just a few normal lumps and bumps. I'm larger up top (shoulders & boobs make me about a size 16 there) than round the middle/bottoms (about a size 12-14), which can make it a bit harder to find things.

I don't generally do too revealing but do like to try and make an effort when we do a special meal out - generally end up feeling like I've missed the mark a bit though. If possible a classic timeless style would probably be my kind of style - not really into frill or flounce. And not too figure hugging given those normal lumps and bumps ;)

Please post your suggestions for dresses or tops/skirts/fancy pants & shoes etc - this would be much appreciated. Ideally not toooooo expensive as it's pretty rare we go out so it likely won't get much wear - would pay a decent amount for something classic that would be worn again though! (Will be going to MILs 80th later in the year, something that could be reworn then would definitely be a bonus!)

I’ve just bought this and worn it twice. It’s nice and cool and covers a multitude of sins! www.next.co.uk/g25142s1/a09495#a09495
