Covid - the family game

1 house
4 teams
Team A: 3 adults, double jabbed last Sat
Team B: 1 adult, 1st jab last Sat
Team C: 1 16yo, 1st jab last Sat
Team D: 4 children under 16

1 positive lateral flow test today because of Covid symptoms this morning - let's call them Cyrus the Virus 😉

You have 48 hours to answer 3 questions:

Q1: Who can leave the house?
Q2: Who needs to isolate and for how long?
Q3: Does it matter which team Cyrus is in, would that change answers to Q1 & Q2?

Let's get ready to RUMBLE!

(Disclaimer: there are no prizes and I have no clue what the correct answers are, I'm so confused by rules.
TIA for any replies)

@PurpleDaisies

Is “Cyrus” a child or adult?
I don't want to say for various reasons

And the LfT must be confirmed with a PCR.
This is free via the link.

The person who tested positive and who has symptoms using the LFT should SI until the results of their PCR is returned.

Everyone else doesn't need to SI unless the PCR comes back positive. Then it's as shown below.

Confused Weird.

Anyway, I supposed it is irrelevant. Anyone with symptoms or a positive lateral flow test, regardless of if they’re an adult or child isolates until getting a negative pcr test.

No-if you’re in the same household as someone with symptoms, you isolate unless you’re exempt from it, for example by being double vaccinated plus 14 days or under 18.

Abraxan · 19/08/2021 15:14

Ah - of course. The adults need to SI until pcr results, as not fully jabbed yet, as there are symptoms in household.

Abraxan · 19/08/2021 15:16

Actually just thought - when is the 18 year olds birthday?

If they are under 18y6m then they are exempt from SI iirr.

So team B may or may not need to SI as a close contact, depending on their date of birthday!

@PurpleDaises

I'm grateful for your advice but I don't appreciate being called weird because I don't want to disclose certain info here.
As I said I have my reasons and I can't say what they are. There's no need to judge me for that.

@Abraxan

he turned 18 in July, so thanks for that tip! I had been wondering if the fact that he had just turned 18 would make a difference.

Omg Zing. We need a diagram with arrows and colour coding.... I'll go grab the flip chart.

NigellaSeed · 19/08/2021 19:45

Or maybe stick up everyone's mug shots and have different colored string all coming from Cyrus' photo.

whatswithtodaytoday · 19/08/2021 21:27

You have a household of four adults and five children, and none of you has needed a Covid test in the past year for you to know they're free? Hmm
