Where is it from?

We have spent between £0 and £1200 on sofas over the years and none have ever been quite right.

Not sure if it fits your remit but ours is from Nabru.
It's a v boxy shape which can put people off but it is hands down the best sofa we have had. No sagging of cushions, still nice and firm. The material has also stood up to the blasted cat having a nice time of sharpening his claws and clambering all over it.
We configured a massive corner sofa and I've fallen asleep on it more times than I'll admit too.
I love it.

Treezan82 · 19/08/2021 14:42

Thank you! Will take a look. Firm but comfy is basically it and I want the seats to have a bit of depth so you can lay on it and have a cuddle without one of you hanging off the edge.

Nabru is firm and comfy (I've had one) but by its nature isn't very pretty. I like my Loaf sofas but do have to plump the cushions. Deep and v comfy but not firm

We had it made by a small independent company, it was 1k almost 16 years ago. I may get it recovered in the future. At that time the fashion was for really low back sofas. I would ask friends about local companies.

We've just spent a small fortune on Declor sofas. They're due to arrive next week and we're hoping they'll last us 50 years!!

LimberlostLark · 19/08/2021 14:55

sofa.com Isla has been the most comfortable sofa I've ever had. Lovely wide and deep cusions so plenty of you stays on the sofa.

A bit more on the soft than firm side - so maybe a bit too 'sloppy' for some people but I really loved it.

I had to get rid as mine was covered in linen that 3 dogs basically turned into a glorified foot mat. I needed something more robust but it's replacement (G Plan) is nowhere near as good, despite being more £.

Tootyfilou · 19/08/2021 19:13

I need to know this too! bump.

I second sofa.com

Treezan82 · 20/08/2021 08:50

These look awesome - starting to think the secret to the perfect sofa is spending £2-3k 🤣

A silly question but can you see sofa.com sofas in the flesh anywhere? Would like to have a sit down and feel before parting with money.

20viona · 20/08/2021 09:45

Arighi bianchi. Took ages to come and the first one they delivered was the wrong size but it's super comfy and looks nice.

20viona · 20/08/2021 09:45

Sorry didn't see the price we paid nearly £3k.

Pissoi · 20/08/2021 09:50

I just bought the Jansen range from Oak Furnitureland and they are lovely! Really well built, sturdy and plush memory foam cushions so they retain their shape and are super comfy Smile

KitBot · 20/08/2021 10:04

We've just taken delivery of a Fama Opera. It's massive but really comfy and sturdy. The cats approve of it.

BeetleyCarapace · 20/08/2021 10:08

Ours come from Heal's. They were expensive but one of them is now almost 15 years old, and still looks new. It's nicely sprung and very supportive -- my back doesn't cope with those squashy sofas you just sink into.

I've just had the leather cleaned and treated, first time in 10 years. I have no doubt it will last for a hundred years if not longer.

John Lewis - we have two large two seaters that I think were about £800 each. after a couple of arse-numbing experiences with online purchases I now only buy what I can sit on before hand.

Authenticcelestialmusic · 20/08/2021 10:25

I bought cheap sofas from argos because we had three very small children. Got them when they had 20% off too. So quite a bit under £1000 for two sofas and a footstool. We intended to keep for a few years and then pass them on/sell them but they are great. Really comfy and still look good.

2me2u2u2me · 20/08/2021 10:29

I got mine in 2013 from Furniture Village, it's an L shape with a big pouffe so we can lounge on it all together, seats 5 comfortably, it's mega comfy, deep and I can take the covers off, even though they said not to, and put them in the washer, it's not lost any shape in all that time, I love it and it wasn't mega expensive either

Fair play to Heal's. I once bought a circular coffee table from there without seeing it. It was quite expensive and when it arrived I was pretty disappointed as it just seemed quite delicate and so I imagined it not really lasting. I kicked myself several times for not being a bit more careful about what I bought.

That was more than 10 years ago. That coffee table has done 5 house moves - including to and from a foreign country - and survived it all. It looks as good today as it did when I bought it. I suspect it'll still look new in another 10 years time.

It's never really dated, either.

It just keeps on going...

Got some deep leather sofas from Argos a few years back and still look brand new with two kids jumping and spilling milk/juice all over them. Think they were £1500 ish

IDidntFloatUpTheLaganInABubble · 20/08/2021 10:46

Laura Ashley, but before all the shops closed and they went online only.

DareDevil223 · 20/08/2021 11:15

We got this one in from DFS in Teal. It's very comfortable, looks good and the fabric is very durable (doesn't show where DCat tried his claws on it!).

We splurged on a large corner sofa from Bo Concept when they had an offer on. I’d dismissed them in the past as they looked a bit style over substance, but when we started trying them out we realised they have that great balance of firm support without being saggy- ours is so comfy to sit on, and the wool felt fabric is easy to keep clean. They’re all very modern looking though so depends on your style.

Anoisagusaris · 20/08/2021 11:52

Leather sofa from an independent store, was on sale (significantly reduced IIRC) for about €1k about 15 years ago. Absolutely love it. Soft leather that has worn beautifully despite getting lots of wear and tear and no care given to it.
