In London walking loads, my dune sandals were killing so bought these thinking the worst that they would kill.

Reader, they don't. So comfy and very similar to Birkenstock's.

I know they arnt exactly fashionista material but o love them!

Heading back to get every colour!

Ah, that's interesting... I was considering investing in the real thing, but maybe I'll head to Primark instead!

oh ,very interesting ! I need something with a rigid sole (according to my chiropodist) and to wear indoors like slippers .

Chiropodist says many people undo the good that wearing supportive shoes during the day by wearing soft slippers .But for context I'm in my 70s .

Do they have a decent arch support? I get awful plantar.

MaMelon · 19/08/2021 11:29

I have two pairs - the gold and the brown - bought for mucking about on holiday. I thought if they lasted the fortnight I’d be pleased. Honestly - they’re amazing! I was going to treat myself to a pair of a gold Birkenstocks but I think I’ll stick to my £6 Primark jobs which have been fab.

spangleswereace · 19/08/2021 11:31

Hmm I got these and I struggle to keep them on my feet! Ok for short distances but I couldn't wear them all day!

wineymummy · 19/08/2021 11:35

I have bought cheap Birkenstocks previously and they don't last very long - a month or two of heavy wear and the sole goes and the straps stretch. Bought the real deal in spring this year and still good as new. I won't buy fake again.

Galassia · 19/08/2021 11:37

The real Birkenstock’s are the most uncomfortable footwear I’ve ever worn! I hope the cheap version are more comfortable although I can’t see them lasting very long.

BasicB · 19/08/2021 11:39

I like the M&S ones, they’re real suede/leather and cost about £25. They look amazing and I’ve worn them most days since May

The soles don't last two minutes compared to the real thing.

Comfy enough for padding round the house but really don't last very long.

Snoken · 19/08/2021 13:22

I always buy Birkenstocks, probably a new pair every other year, and then I wear them every day from spring until autumn. They are so comfy. You can tell though that they have a better shape for under your foot compared to the Primark ones. There's not much there to support your arch or toes.

MaMelon · 19/08/2021 13:24

They’re £60 v £6 - of course Birkenstock’s are going to be better made. For a pair of summer sandals they’ve been great - esp as summer here usually means a few weeks.

Tinkerbellfluffyboots79 · 19/08/2021 13:27

I’ve got Birkenstock’s they push my foot the opposite way than t wants to go then rubs, they look nice on but can’t wear them long and certainly not for lots of walking and I’d never keep those on my feet no matter how lovely they are great bargain if they suit you tho

dopeyduck · 19/08/2021 13:37

Yes I prefer the primark ones too lol

Caramelblonde · 19/08/2021 14:15

I got the Primark gold ones reduced to £3 on Monday as I was getting a pedicure and had ballet flats on.They look great for the bit of summer we have left. They also had a nice khaki colour for £5.Hadn't been in Primark for 2 years and some prices were shocking but not these!

I wear Birkie-likes in the house for slippers as I need arch support
Whatafool123 · 19/08/2021 17:01

I have gone through 2 pairs this summer already. They are lovely and comfortable but they really don't last. The real ones have lasted me years in the past. Mind you, at £6 a pair you can go through quite a few before you have spent the same as the real thing!

peridito · 19/08/2021 18:18

I popped down to nearest Primarks .Decided not to buy as the footbed and sole do seem rather thin and unsupportive .No match for my hulking feet but I bet fine for a holiday sandal on you bright slim things !

ImAddictedToMyPhone · 19/08/2021 19:36

I have to add- I have the real deal and my feet are so painful by the end of the day. So they're not all they are made out to be. Might invest in a Primark pair. 😊

peridito · 19/08/2021 22:00

Mmm ,I had a pair of Birkenstocks 30 years ago .They may have needed getting used to but all I can remember is how much I wore them and how very comfortable they were .
