What should I watch on my Amazon Prime free trial?

I'm currently watching the 5th series of The Expanse, but I'll still have the best part of a month once I've finished that. I was hoping the second series of Upload would be out by now, but it isn't.

Any recommendations? I like sci-fi (obviously). I like some crime drama like Unforgotten, but not Scandi crime or anything with too much brooding or angst. I watch some costume drama. I like film thrillers but not series thrillers. I like comedy but am a bit picky about it. Strongly dislike horror unless it's about vampires (that makes no sense to me, but that's how it is).

Animal kingdom

EvenRosesHaveThorns · 19/08/2021 22:08

Man in high castle, love it

I really strongly disliked the first Outlander book

I found the books utterly unreadable - so awful! However, I adore the series especially the first two series. I would give it a whirl. Sam Heughan is v easy on the eye!!

A friend has told me that Clarkson’s Farm is a hoot so I am going to try that.

Clarkson's Farm & The Grand Tour definitely.

@WhispersOfWickedness

In terms of films, I enjoyed the map of tiny perfect things recently 😊
Hi funny, I’ve just finished my trial and could’ve done with this thread. Ended up arguing most evenings with the family trying to find something to watch.

I saw that film too and really enjoyed it.

Puffinhead · 20/08/2021 00:26

How funny, should have written!

PolkadotsAndMoonbeams · 20/08/2021 00:44

I don't think it really fits your categories OP, but I'm having a bit of a nostalgic re-watch of Wild at Heart.

Young Amanda Holden, the one from Monarch of the Glen, Hayley and Juliet Mills, lots of animals... I'm actually surprised by how much I'm enjoying it!

EveryFlightBeginsWithAFall · 20/08/2021 00:49

I'm the same, he usually annoys me but I'm also going to say Clarkson farm. I binge watched it recently when I had covid

BlackAmericanoNoSugar · 22/08/2021 15:26

Solos is very good, I particularly liked Helen Mirren's one.

Definitely Bosch, it's fab. The Man in the High Tower, Goliath. If you like Sci-Fi then The Expanse is a must-see.

Mr Robot is amazing. But mind bending. Not something you can skim watch.

Based on this thread it looks like I may have to watch Clarkson's Farm, The Boys and Mrs Maisel.

DragonmotherKhaleesi · 22/08/2021 15:41

Clarksons Farm!!!

BlackAmericanoNoSugar · 22/08/2021 16:01

One thing this thread has taught me is that I'm not prepared to pay the same price for Amazon Prime as the UK if well over a third of the programmes are not available in Ireland. Mind you, I hardly ever pay for it anyway, I just hang around until either I'm desperate to watch something so pay for one month or wait for a free trial.

Films I would say

Greenland
21 bridges
Hustlers

Non exclusives:
Baz luhrmans Gatsby on there at the moment which I love
Pitch perfect 2
Secret of my success
The breakfast club
Point break
The accountant - little known but excellent film
Deep impact (better than Armageddon imo)
Indiana Jones there at the moment
Final destination - a couple of these on there at the moment
The impossible - amazing but very challenging watch
The commuter - Liam neeson action film not too bad an easy action watch
Non stop - Liam neeson again pretty good
Flatliners - the original one not the crappy remake
Tinker tailor soldier spy
Wishmaster - rarely available to stream and one of my favourite horror franchises
Practical magic
Bad moms - bloody hilarious! The opening scene will have you imagining an mn relationships post! Grin
We're the millers - funny and unexpectedly sweet
Stir of echoes - another underrated and rarely streamed film
La confidential
Knight and day

Tv
Bosch
Marvellous Mrs maisel (which I've only just started as kept thinking I wouldn't like it - I was so wrong!)
Lucifer - if you have Netflix to see the rest
This is us
Future man - if you like quirky sci fi this will be right up your street plus the sublime Glenne Headly in her final role

Non exclusives

Criminal minds
Ncis
Lethal weapon (I've just started this and really enjoying)
Will and grace
Bones (one of the ones I have rewatched so many times I know the script!)
Who's line is it anyway - the old and the best ones
Greys anatomy
Desperate housewives
Downton abbey
Modern family
House (another repeat watch for me)

I'm terrible for rewatching old favourites rather than trying new stuff so will be watching thread for recommendations too, much of which is probably already on my watchlist!

I really need to try more new stuff (or at least new to me)

BlackAmericanoNoSugar · 22/08/2021 21:50

Right, I'm 5 minutes and 30 seconds into Clarkson's Farm and already his voice over is annoying me.

Animal Kingdom. We are on season 3 at the moment and we're loving it. If you liked sons of anarchy or point break you'll love it.

Vikings. Improves a lot after series one.
