hoping to train as a counsellor, need a part-time gig for structure and to pay basic bills. You’d like to meet some friends and maybe one day a decent guy. Where would you relocate to? (Your budget for a home is c 600k)

Norwich. Good community vibe, lots of open hearted people (friends and potentials), bit ‘hippy’, lots of events. Big enough to be anonymous. Small enough to find your tribe.

£600k would go a very long way (ie: buy a gorgeous house for £400k and have a bigger pension pot).

Thanks for this. I could deffo do with a bigger pension pot!

I would definitely rent first in a few different places (air bnb or short term lets for a few months) to properly get a feel for a place and if you fit in there socially before committing that sum of money.

Then I’d get a massive fuck off house in Glasgow, a part time job at Waitrose or the uni, and have about half the money left Wink

A good few run of the mill customer service centre jobs to be had whilst searching for The One (job) too. Easy to get, easy to leave…

@SpringlikeBunk Ha!! That sounds like a plan!

My dream 'other life' place is Tynemouth. There's a bungalow on for 375k at the moment, needs work. But I've never lived there so I'd want to get the low down on nice areas etc.

SpringlikeBunk · 18/08/2021 22:25

converted church, next to park might be a bit noisy

older style

posh area a bit out of centre

plenty of "turnover" of people as well, new faces etc.

God that church!! But of a disappointment inside though, just looks like any other overdeveloped flat*

*my house is a tip

@PermanentTemporary

It's like an interior designer has been given a remit to Fill This Flat With Expensive Trendy Things Circa 2010.
