It's a hallmark on a ring. I can see the crown and I can see '750' but the two symbols on either end ... can't quite make them out

Can you see it? Thanks!

That could be a Q at the end but not sure. Don't think it's an R

Lion, crown, R50 (or 750) Q

muffindays · 18/08/2021 20:07

I think the R50/750 might be 250

adawong · 18/08/2021 20:08

Q is the date mark for 2015.

Happylittlethoughts · 18/08/2021 20:09

250 q

DickDastardly · 18/08/2021 20:09

Ooh it's not 2015. Its a minimum of about 30 years old

Thanks all

Can you clean it - perhaps boil with soap or put in coke ?

DickDastardly · 18/08/2021 20:10

The 750 makes sense as it's 18 ct gold

I think the Lion signifies made in England

The letter does signify the year, but there are about 20 or so letters used in a cycle so Q has been used a number of times over the centuries.

The lion is the London assay office mark (doesn't mean it was made in London just hallmarked there), the crown means gold, 750 is 18 CT, and if the date letter is a capital Q it's either 1990 or 1951. If you could get a clearer picture it would help as I can't quite see the date stamp.
