Stung all up my arm. Anyone got any home remedies that actually work?

Aloe Vera is apparently very good if you have some

Darklane · 18/08/2021 19:11

Dock leaf. Squeeze it & rub the juice on. Docks usually grow where nettles grow..
failing that 1% hydrocortisone cream

Her ole eye has local anaesthetic in it, works for bites

That was supposed to say Germolene but then spell checker interfered!

Porridge. Place in a Muslim, tie around bath tap, run bath. Hop in, soak, don’t use soap and air dry when done.

mayblossominapril · 18/08/2021 21:39

Anthisan xream or witch hazel

KatherineJaneway · 18/08/2021 21:41

Dock leaves don't work

karenfisher · 18/08/2021 21:42

Do you have to ask them first? 😉 @Gilead

I’m loving the autocorrects on here. Grin

Ditto Anthisan. You can get it in chemists, home bargains. Probably supermarkets. It fab stuff. I first bought it for ddog when he get badly stung by nettles. It works for all sorts - stings, itchy bites, even jelly fish stings.

LaurieSchafferIsAllBitterNow · 18/08/2021 21:46

ooh it's late and that poor Muslim tied up in a hot bath has really made me laugh

I think a sock or cut off bit of tight might be easier tbh.

ISpyCobraKai · 18/08/2021 21:47

I'm dying laughing! Grin

steppemum · 18/08/2021 21:47

dock leaves are a myth, they don;t work, the effect is probably the moisture and the rubbing.

you need an antihistamine cream, any bite or sting cream will do it.
Failing that, a hydrocortisone cream has similar effect

@AuditAngel.
Her Ole Eyes is proper cracking me up, I just love autocorrect.

crimsonlake · 18/08/2021 22:03

I get stunk quite a lot when weeding despite trying to be careful of stinging nettles. On the odd sting I usually find spit works. Last weekend I accidentaly picked some up as I was collecting up a load of weeds and badly stung my hand. I tried a bag of frozen peas this time and it certainly helped initially.

Gilead · 18/08/2021 22:19

Oh dear!

hedgehogger1 · 18/08/2021 23:17

Thanks for all the interesting suggestions. I've got an aloe plant so I'm trying a bit of that on
