Car Boot sale virgin

I'm doing my first car boot sale on Sunday. I have a mixture of stuff, some 2nd hand clothing, bric a brac, electrical items and toys that I will sell from 50p to £3. 1 large animal cage that I would charge £30 for. I also have some brand new things such as dog beds and make up kits that I'd like to sell for around £5 each. Are these prices what you would expect to pay? The last car boot sale I attended was over 30 years ago with my nan and I remember her buying us clothing with 10 and 20p!

Do not bother its a waste of your time. Every body wants items for 10p.

You wont sell anything until you drop the prices to nothing.

People will try and nick stuff as you get it out of the boot.

Keep your money on you, not in a box. Take a ton of change and plastic bags.

Hmmm. Perhaps it's not what I'm after then 🤔

I am going to go against the grain and say that they are really good. You do have to price sensibly though. Lots of buyers early in the day will be those looking to buy your items cheap to sell on. You tend to get more families later. I would say hang on until schools go back through. We did one last weekend and it was extremely quiet. I think lots of are away.

IME, you'll be lucky to get anywhere near £2 to £3 per item.
The majority want items for 50p, £1 at most.
Prepare for a lot of offers/haggling.

I had some new clothes, still with tags on, going for £2. Struggled to sell.

Had a dog ornament that got a lot of attention, everyone "loved" it and said how cute it was. It was £2 but they still ummed and ahhed about it. £2!!!!!!!!!
For bric a brac, people are expecting to buy things for 20p, 50p.

I'm not doing a car boot ever again, not worth the hassle. Charity shops and clothing bins from now on.
