Low level anxiety every morning before work :(

Every morning before work I have this low level of anxiety. I feel nauseous and can't eat because of it. I don't know why; I like my job and feel confident and comfortable with my job role and my colleagues. If it wasn't for the physical symptoms of anxiety (IBS, nausea) I wouldn't really notice the anxiety.

Does anyone have any advice or can relate?

Sorry you feel like this. Sending hugs!

Did you have time off in the pandemic? I was wfh until recently and I was nervous when I went back. Could it be that?

Are you sleeping OK? Do you have caffeine in the morning? Caffeine makes me feel anxious.

This can be physical - something to do with hormone levels in the morning I think. I have high levels of anxiety throughout the day and really don't feel comfortable in my job. The fact you say you enjoy it and feel confident makes me question whether this isn't a psychological issue.

Is it definitely anxiety or is there something else at play?

I feel like this in the mornings if I've not had enough sleep and am relying on caffeine to get me up and through the day!

I would agree with another poster above, I also blame Peri menopause for this. I used to wake up feeling like I had an interview or really important meeting...but didnt...but my stomach would be in knots. I found taking a magnesium supplement helped. Or maybe its just in my head but I noticed a difference. It's still there a bit but at very low level.

I think it's definitely work for a few reasons.

It only happens on work days, and even happens when I'm working nightshifts so it's not the early mornings causing it.

My commute is literally 5 minutes and I get up early and have my morning routine down to the minute so I never worry about running late or being flustered.

I do drink caffeine (1-2 cups of coffee/day) but the IBS symptoms start before I've had any coffee.

I sleep pretty well (7 hours+).

I'm also in my 20s so it shouldn't be hormonal.

I definitely relate to what you are experiencing. I enjoy my job, I like the people I work with but on a Sunday evening I get that dread and don't sleep well. I think its because I am an over thinker and put too much pressure on myself to be perfect so I give myself anxiety when there really isn't anything to worry about. I frequently look at other job adverts even though I have no intention of moving on.

Have you tried taking 5HTP? It improves my sleep and makes me less anxious.
