Pure escapism thread = Money no object and assuming your family would move with you, or you could see them regularly?

(Ie. "Barbados because I love the beach life" answer's rather than "Coventry, cause gran lives there" Grin)

Rome

Comedycook · 18/08/2021 17:43

Beverley hills. I went there once and thought it was the most beautiful place

AlfonsoTheMango · 18/08/2021 17:47

@AnaViaSalamanca

Geneva. Close to the mountains, lake and french language.
I hadn't thought of Geneva. Good call - better than Monte Carlo.

I'd live exactly where I am, 300m up the side of a mountain in Snowdonia, but I'd attempt to buy out my ndn and knock the two properties (our cottage and next doors farmhouse) together. They were all part of the same farm for a couple of hundred years until 7 years ago when it got broken up and sold off. I'd also try and buy a few acres of the surrounding fields off they local farmer.

Tobebythesea · 18/08/2021 18:02

Either:

Edinburgh
Highgate
New York (only for a couple of years)
Pembrokeshire
New Zealand

A bit of a mixed bag!

Geamhradh · 18/08/2021 18:44

Oh I didn't realize we could have lots!
Kent for those wonderful late June evening summers.
Salamanca, Spain, because a little piece of my heart is there behind a bar.
Somewhere Scandinavian but crisp and sunlit not all grey and industrial like The Bridge.
Portugal for the summer once Kent has turned Autumnal.

Lampzade · 18/08/2021 18:49

Semi rurally Kent /London Borders
Havana Cuba

HelplessProcrastinator · 18/08/2021 18:51

A little place with a sea view in Cornwall. Close to a beach I could swim at and easy kayak launching.

I’m not too far away now but would head West if we I could.

By the coast but in the middle of the country. Large house that requires no upkeep or cleaning and plenty of space. Peace and quiet with no neighbours but within a huge thriving community. Buses nearly and great shops but no noise. Great internet and sunshine but magic rain for the plants so no watering required for the huge grounds. Very cheap and affordable to buy and then suddenly worth a load of money so good investment. Plenty of land to build houses for the children too 😂 princess Anne’s place ticks a lot of boxes - although I’d like a decent local pub that I can walk to and walk home easily that makes no noise
Brilliant. As this is an escapism thread, all that is possible
ssd · 18/08/2021 18:55

Where i live is decent. 20 minutes into a major UK city. 30 minutes to the beach. 50 minutes to the beautiful Trossachs and Loch Lomond. 20 minutes walk to one of the top high schools in Scotland. 3 bed houses less than 200k.
Not bad at all.

Abracadabra12345 · 18/08/2021 18:57

Somewhere where there are proper seasons especially winter where it gets snowy and frosty instead of warm-wet. I ache for snow. And lovely flamboyant autumns. Obviously not a neighbour in sight or sound but a handy and regular bus nearby

SpaceBethSmith · 18/08/2021 18:58

Somewhere that I can see the stars clearly, every night.

NotAnotherPushyMum · 18/08/2021 19:02

London or Manhattan. I’m a city girl at heart, just without the budget to match.

Darklane · 18/08/2021 19:07

Ooh, if we're allowed to really go for it, then I'll say Narnia but it has to be after the White Queen has been defeated and while it's still peaceful. Definitely before the arrival of any Calormened.
cariadlet · 18/08/2021 19:52

"Calormenes"

Gonegrey31 · 18/08/2021 19:53

Sanibel Island, on the Gulf Coast of Florida

Marmitemarinaded · 18/08/2021 19:55

Exactly where I live in the SE of England

A picture perfect wonderful town surrounded by sensational countryside, within 45 mins of London.

Just perfect

TweedePrik · 18/08/2021 20:03

On a houseboat in Amsterdam, or Leiden. With maybe a holiday getaway by the sea someone on French or Italian riviera. It would take me ages to choose where though. Possibly Gassin with a view over the vinyards and the gulf of St Tropez, or Juan Les Pins, or Portovenere in Italy. Oh what a lovely thought.

hugoagogo · 18/08/2021 20:03

@Phyllis321

The loveliest bit of Cambridge. Holiday home on a remote coastal spot.
Yes, this!
GintyMcGinty · 18/08/2021 20:05

A warm beach location with wall to ceiling windows.

Think Hawaii, Sydney, California, Caribbean, etc

blueberrywaffle · 18/08/2021 20:08
