Mobile phone insurance (O2) - can I do this?

Currently I have the iPhone XR on contract with O2 and I have insurance too.

I still have another year left on my contract and I’m really itching to get the iPhone 12 Pro Max.

My iPhone has a chip on the top right back corner and it’s also got scratches on the screen and some parts of the paint is chipped on the sides.

I kind of want to sell the phone to pay off my contract - but I won’t get as much money for it due to the minor damage.

Can I claim on my insurance for the above, get a new phone, sell it and pay off my contract?

Depends what your policy covers. Only you can find out if it would cover that, what the excess would be, if it might make future policies prohibitively expensive, etc.

It certainly doesn’t seem like the purpose for which the insurance was intended.
