Are passports taking 10 weeks?

I need to renew our passports if we want to book a few days away around half term and for around Christmas!

Has anyone applied recently and are they really taking 10 weeks?

When I applied a couple of months ago, they said 10weeks but arrived in less than 2 weeks. That was a child renewal.

My DH recent passport renewal took only one week to come back.

DD applied 10/7 online. She took her time sending in old passport, which was received on 27/7. She received her passport on 11/8, having been informed it was approved 9/8. Originally she was given the ten week waiting time.

I’ve just done a renewal including a name change and got it back in three weeks.

There is a website where people submit their waiting times. A couple of months ago the average was less than 3 week.
