Job interview 6 days ago, voicemail left by interviewer today. Any chance I got the job?

I attended an interview last week. It was my first one in a very long time and I’ve been out of work for a few years as a SAHP.

At the interview they did say they had a full day of interviewing people and that plus the fact that I’ve been out of work left me pretty certain I didn’t stand a chance even though my (not so recent) experience in 2 previous roles was very relevant.

In the past when I went for interviews the person being offered the job would usually hear pretty quickly, if not same day then next day.

So when I saw I had a voicemail this afternoon, 6 days after the interview and listened to it I was surprised to hear it was one of the interviewers who asked me to call her back.

Is there any chance I’ll be offered the job? I’d have thought if she was just ringing out of courtesy to say I hadn’t got it then she’d have said so on the voicemail, or even just have sent an email to say so.

If anyone is more up to speed with how it all works these days can share their thoughts before I can ring back tomorrow I’d be grateful, thank you.

I would say that sounds promising!

Good luck!

I’ve offered jobs 6 days after interviews before. Admittedly, sometimes to second choices (after the first is declined), but I wouldn’t offer to someone I didn’t want to do the job!

I certainly wouldn’t ask someone to ring me back to turn them down.

Good luck and fingers crossed.

Thanks to you both.

Yes that’s a good point Vaselike, perhaps it’s because the first choice person turned it down, in which case I won’t complain!

Why didn't you call back there and then?

Tinselandlights · 16/08/2021 23:08

I offered a first-choice candidate a job two full weeks after she interviewed (and HR said I wasn't allowed to update so I couldn't even tell her what was going on!).

The delay was around her salary band and I was not allowed to tell her why it had taken so long, but I wanted her to get paid more than I'd been told I could offer so it took ages to sign off. Good luck!

Catfunk- they left a voicemail because I didn’t have my phone to hand as I’m away on holiday this week. Didn’t see the message until after their office would have closed.

Either you'll be offered the job, or you'll be invited to a second interview. Either way it will be good news, because if they'd rejected you, they would've sent an email instead.

How did it go @Summergarden?

Twickerhun · 17/08/2021 19:50

Sorry op but I would always call candidates back after interview and I would never leave a message to reject someone. I think you have to keep an open mind - it could be any answer from them from yes to come to a second interview to no. There isn’t a way we can guess for you.
I interview at least once a week.

@Summergarden did you get it
